Frequently Asked Questions

What is SAAZ DS Tab used for?

SAAZ DS Tab contains sulfasalazine and is primarily used to treat inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease.

How does SAAZ DS Tab work?

Sulfasalazine works by reducing inflammation in the body. It suppresses the immune response that contributes to inflammation in the joints and intestines.

What is the usual dosage of SAAZ DS Tab?

The typical adult dose varies depending on the condition being treated. For rheumatoid arthritis, it's often started at a lower dose and gradually increased. For ulcerative colitis, the dose may be higher. Always follow your doctor’s instructions regarding dosage.

What are the possible side effects of SAAZ DS Tab?

Common side effects include nausea, headache, loss of appetite, rash, and stomach upset. Rare but serious side effects may include liver problems, blood disorders, and severe allergic reactions.

Is SAAZ DS Tab safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

SAAZ DS Tab should be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed by your doctor. Sulfasalazine can affect folic acid levels, so supplementation may be recommended during pregnancy.

Can SAAZ DS Tab be taken with other medications?

SAAZ DS Tab can interact with other medicines, such as blood thinners, digoxin, and certain antibiotics. Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.

What precautions should be taken while using SAAZ DS Tab?

Regular blood tests may be needed to monitor liver and kidney function and blood cell counts. Inform your doctor if you have allergies to sulfa drugs or salicylates, kidney or liver disease, or glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

How should SAAZ DS Tab be stored?

Store SAAZ DS Tab at room temperature, away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children.
