Description
FACECLIN GEL (20 GM) by ABBOTT HEALTHCARE PVT. LTD.
Faceclin Gel is a topical medication manufactured by Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. designed for the effective management of acne.
-
Composition Faceclin Gel contains a combination of two active ingredients: Clindamycin (1% w/w) and Nicotinamide (4% w/w). Clindamycin is an antibiotic that inhibits the growth of acne-causing bacteria by blocking protein synthesis. Nicotinamide, a form of Vitamin B3, acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing swelling, redness, and tenderness associated with acne lesions, and helps to control sebum production.
-
Uses Faceclin Gel is primarily used to treat mild to moderate acne vulgaris, including pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It reduces inflammation, controls acne-causing bacteria, and helps regulate excessive oil (sebum) production, leading to clearer skin and prevention of future breakouts.
-
Dosage and Administration This medicine is for external use only. It should be applied as directed by a doctor, typically a thin layer twice daily (morning and evening) on clean, dry affected areas of the skin. A pea-sized amount is generally sufficient for each area of the face. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. Wash hands thoroughly before and after application.
-
Side Effects Common side effects may include burning sensation, skin dryness, redness (erythema), exfoliation or peeling, itching, and oiliness at the application site. Most side effects are temporary and resolve on their own. If severe or persistent side effects occur, or if an allergic reaction (rashes, swelling, shortness of breath) is experienced, consult a doctor immediately.
-
Precautions Consult a doctor before using Faceclin Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid applying to cut, scraped, sunburned, or eczematous skin. Concomitant use with other topical anti-acne agents or products containing alcohol may increase the risk of skin irritation. Discontinue use and consult a doctor if severe diarrhea occurs during therapy, as clindamycin can affect gut bacteria. Protect skin from direct sunlight as it may increase sensitivity.
-
Storage Store Faceclin Gel below 30°C in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep it out of sight and reach of children and pets.

Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some frequently asked questions about Faceclin Gel:
What is Faceclin Gel used for?
Faceclin Gel is primarily used to treat mild to moderate acne, including pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. It helps reduce skin inflammation, controls excessive oil (sebum) production, and works to clear existing breakouts while preventing new ones from forming.
How does Faceclin Gel work?
Faceclin Gel contains two active ingredients: Clindamycin and Nicotinamide. Clindamycin is an antibiotic that penetrates the skin to kill acne-causing bacteria by inhibiting their protein synthesis. Nicotinamide, a form of Vitamin B3, acts as an anti-inflammatory agent, reducing swelling, redness, and tenderness associated with acne lesions, and also helps control sebum production.
What is the usual dosage for Faceclin Gel?
The usual dosage involves applying a thin layer of the gel to the affected skin area once or twice daily, typically in the morning and evening, or as directed by your doctor. It's recommended to use a pea-sized amount for each area of your face (e.g., forehead, chin, each cheek) after cleaning and drying the skin.
What are the possible side effects of Faceclin Gel?
Common side effects at the application site include a burning sensation, skin dryness, redness (erythema), peeling or exfoliation, itching, and increased oiliness. These effects are usually mild and temporary. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, it is important to consult your doctor.
Is Faceclin Gel safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
During Pregnancy: Caution is advised when using Faceclin Gel during pregnancy. It is essential to consult your doctor to discuss the potential risks and benefits before use. During Breastfeeding: Faceclin Gel is generally considered safe for use during breastfeeding. However, it is advisable to inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding and to avoid applying the gel to the nipple or areola area to prevent direct infant exposure.
Can Faceclin Gel be taken with other medications?
Faceclin Gel is applied externally, so it is less likely to interact with oral medications. However, caution is advised when using it with other topical anti-acne agents, cosmetics, or skin products containing alcohol (like shaving creams or medicated soaps), as this can increase the risk of skin irritation, dryness, or peeling. If you are taking oral anticoagulants like Warfarin, discuss this with your doctor, as there may be potential interactions.
What precautions should be taken while using Faceclin Gel?
Faceclin Gel is for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes, lips, mouth, nose, and other mucous membranes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not apply the gel to broken, cut, scraped, sunburned, or eczema-affected skin. It may increase your skin's sensitivity to sunlight, so use sunscreen and wear protective clothing when outdoors. It is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age. Always wash your hands before and after applying the gel. Inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions, such as atopic dermatitis or inflammatory bowel disease, before starting treatment.
What happens if a dose of Faceclin Gel is missed?
If you miss an application of Faceclin Gel, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose, as this will not provide faster or better results and may increase the risk of side effects.
How should Faceclin Gel be stored?
Faceclin Gel should be stored in a cool and dry place, ideally below 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children and pets.
