Frequently asked questions

NUROKIND-G 300 TAB is a medication containing Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin, primarily prescribed for various neurological conditions.

What is NUROKIND-G 300 TAB used for?

NUROKIND-G 300 TAB is primarily used to treat neuropathic pain, which is pain caused by nerve damage. This includes conditions like diabetic neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia (nerve pain after shingles), and fibromyalgia. It may also be used as an add-on therapy for partial seizures (epilepsy) and restless legs syndrome.

How does NUROKIND-G 300 TAB work?

This medicine combines two active ingredients: Gabapentin and Methylcobalamin. Gabapentin, an anticonvulsant, works by balancing chemical messengers in the brain and modulating calcium channel activity in nerve cells, thereby reducing pain signals and abnormal excitement. Methylcobalamin, a form of Vitamin B12, helps in the formation, regeneration, and protection of damaged nerve cells by producing a substance called myelin.

What is the usual dosage for NUROKIND-G 300 TAB?

The dosage of NUROKIND-G 300 TAB is determined by your doctor based on your medical condition and response to treatment. It is typically taken orally with or without food, preferably at bedtime, and at the same time each day for optimal effectiveness. You should always follow your doctor's prescribed dosage and duration and not exceed it.

What are the possible side effects of NUROKIND-G 300 TAB?

Common side effects include dizziness, drowsiness, sleepiness, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, headache, and uncoordinated body movements (ataxia). Less common side effects can include confusion, depression, irritability, and blurred vision. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, or notice any unusual mood or behavioral changes, including suicidal thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.

Is NUROKIND-G 300 TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: NUROKIND-G 300 TAB is generally not recommended during pregnancy as it may interfere with the development of the fetus. Your doctor may prescribe it only if the potential benefits clearly outweigh the risks, after careful assessment. Breastfeeding: It is generally advised to avoid breastfeeding while taking this medication as it may pass into breast milk and potentially harm the infant. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and risks to decide whether to discontinue breastfeeding or the medicine.

Can NUROKIND-G 300 TAB be taken with other medications?

NUROKIND-G 300 TAB can interact with certain medications. For instance, taking it with antacids may reduce its absorption (a 2-hour gap is recommended). It can also interact with some antibiotics like tetracycline, reducing their effectiveness, and with pain medications like morphine, which may increase drowsiness. Inform your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

What precautions should be taken while using NUROKIND-G 300 TAB?

You should avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how this medication affects you, as it can cause dizziness and drowsiness. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can worsen these side effects. Do not stop taking the medicine abruptly, as this can lead to withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, seizures, and other mental disturbances. Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, heart, brain, or breathing disorders, or if you experience any behavioral changes or suicidal thoughts.

What happens if a dose of NUROKIND-G 300 TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

How should NUROKIND-G 300 TAB be stored?

Store NUROKIND-G 300 TAB below 30°C (86°F). Keep it in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. Ensure it is kept out of reach of children and pets.
