  • Other Ingredients: Stabilised Oxychloro Complex (mentioned in some formulations)

Uses Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop is primarily used for the treatment of dry eye disease. It provides temporary relief from burning sensation, irritation, and discomfort caused by dryness of the eye, or due to irritation from wind and sun. It is also used to lubricate and rewet soft and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. Additionally, it can be used following laser or cataract eye surgery to manage dryness and protect the eyes from further irritation.

Dosage and Administration Use Veldrop Eye Drop as advised by your doctor.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before and after use.
  • Tilt your head backward, gently pull down your lower eyelid to form a pocket, and instill the prescribed number of drops into this pocket.
  • Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes after application and avoid blinking or squeezing.
  • Avoid touching the container tip to your eye or eyelids to prevent contamination.
  • If using other eye medications, wait at least 5-10 minutes between applications to prevent dilution.

Side Effects Common side effects are usually temporary and may include:

  • Eye irritation (including burning and discomfort)
  • Itching of the eye
  • Blurred vision (temporary)
  • Eye pain
  • Redness of the eye
  • Eye discharge or medication residue If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

What is Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop used for?

Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop is primarily used to relieve symptoms of dry eyes, such as burning, irritation, and discomfort. This condition can be caused by various factors, including wind, sun exposure, heating, prolonged computer use, and certain medications, as well as following laser or cataract eye surgery. It also helps to lubricate and rewet soft and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses.

How does Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop work?

Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop contains Carboxymethylcellulose (0.5% w/v), which acts as an ophthalmic lubricant, similar to natural tears. It works by increasing the viscosity of tears and forming a protective film on the eye's surface. This action helps to maintain adequate moisture levels, soothe irritation and burning sensations, and protect the eyes from further discomfort.

What is the usual dosage for Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop?

Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop is typically used on an "as-needed" basis, or as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual recommendation is to instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s). It's important to follow your doctor's instructions regarding the specific dosage and frequency, and not to exceed the prescribed amount.

What are the possible side effects of Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop?

Common side effects can include temporary eye irritation, burning, discomfort, pain, itching, redness, and visual disturbances, such as blurred vision or eye discharge. These effects are usually temporary and tend to resolve over time. If any side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult your doctor.

Is Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There is limited information available regarding the use of Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop during pregnancy, so it is recommended to consult your doctor if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant, or are planning a pregnancy. It can generally be used during breastfeeding as it is meant for external application, and the chances of significant absorption are negligible.

Can Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop be taken with other medications?

Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop is generally not known to interact with other medications. However, if you are using other eye drops, it is important to wait at least 5-15 minutes between administering Veldrop and any other eye medication to prevent dilution. Always inform your doctor about any other medicines or supplements you are taking.

What precautions should be taken when using Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop?

Before using the drops, wash your hands thoroughly. Avoid touching the tip of the bottle to your eye or any surface to prevent contamination. Do not use the drops if the solution has changed color or appears cloudy. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before applying the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. If you experience blurred vision after using the drops, avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear. Consult your doctor if irritation persists or worsens, or if you have a history of glaucoma.

What happens if a dose of Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop is missed?

If you miss a dose of Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop, simply skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the forgotten one. Consistency in following your prescribed schedule is important.

How should Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop be stored?

Veldrop Lubricant Eye Drop should be stored in a cool, dry place at or below 25°C or 30°C, away from direct sunlight. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Do not use the eye drops after the expiration date, and generally, discard the bottle within 4 weeks of opening it.
