How does ASOMEX D TABLET work?

ASOMEX D TABLET works through the combined action of its two components: S-Amlodipine and Hydrochlorothiazide. S-Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes and widens blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through them and reducing the heart's workload. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic ("water pill") that helps the body remove excess water and certain electrolytes, like sodium, through urine, thereby reducing blood volume and lowering blood pressure.

What is the usual dosage of ASOMEX D TABLET?

The usual initial dose is one tablet taken once daily. It should be taken at the same time each day with a drink of water, with or without food, as advised by your doctor. Your doctor will determine the best dose and duration of treatment based on your medical condition and response to the medicine.

What are the possible side effects of ASOMEX D TABLET?

Common side effects may include ankle swelling, sleepiness, headache, flushing (a sense of warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), tiredness, nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, and decreased potassium levels in the blood. Most of these side effects are temporary and usually resolve over time. More serious but less common side effects can include severe dizziness or fainting, irregular heartbeats, and kidney problems. Is ASOMEX D TABLET safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

ASOMEX D TABLET is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it may harm the unborn baby. Co-administration with grapefruit or grapefruit juice is not recommended as it may increase the blood pressure-lowering effects.

What precautions should be taken?

• Medical Conditions: Use with caution if you have liver, kidney, or cardiovascular diseases, heart failure, a heart valve problem, a history of heart attack, diabetes, or gout. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose or monitor you closely.
• Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol as it can increase the risk of dizziness and low blood pressure.
• Driving and Machinery: This medicine may cause dizziness or sleepiness, so it's advised to drive with caution or avoid operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
• Stopping Treatment: Do not stop taking ASOMEX D TABLET without your doctor's advice, as sudden discontinuation can cause a sudden increase in blood pressure or other serious heart-related issues. Your doctor will gradually lower the dose if discontinuation is necessary.
• Electrolyte Levels: Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function, and levels of salts like potassium in your blood.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should it be stored?

ASOMEX D TABLET should be stored in a dry and dark place, below 30°C, and out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date.
