Frequently asked questions
Here are the most frequently asked questions about FEBREX 500MG TAB:
What is FEBREX 500MG TAB used for?
FEBREX 500MG TAB is primarily used for the temporary relief of mild to moderate pain and discomfort, and to reduce fever. This includes symptoms associated with headaches, muscular aches, period pain, arthritis/osteoarthritis, toothache, migraine, cold and flu symptoms, tension headache, sinus pain/headache, backache, post-immunization pyrexia, and post-surgery pain.
How does FEBREX 500MG TAB work?
FEBREX 500MG TAB contains Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) as its active ingredient. It works by increasing the pain threshold through inhibiting the production of certain chemical messengers in the brain called prostaglandins, which are responsible for pain and inflammation. Additionally, it acts on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center in the brain to reduce fever by promoting vessel relaxation and sweating.
What is the usual dosage for FEBREX 500MG TAB?
For adults and children aged 12 years and over, the usual dose is 1 to 2 tablets (500mg - 1000mg) every four to six hours as required. Do not exceed a maximum of 8 tablets (4000mg) in 24 hours. For children aged 7 to 12 years, the dose is ½ to 1 tablet (250mg - 500mg) every four to six hours as required, not exceeding a maximum of 4 tablets in 24 hours. Ensure there is a minimum gap of 4 to 6 hours between doses. It is not recommended for children under 7 years of age.
What are the possible side effects of FEBREX 500MG TAB?
When taken at recommended doses, side effects are rare. However, some possible side effects include nausea, stomach pain, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea, fatigue, anemia, allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, blisters, or nettle rash), and dark-colored urine. If any side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
Is FEBREX 500MG TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Can FEBREX 500MG TAB be taken with other medications?
It is important to inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, or herbal products you are taking. FEBREX 500MG TAB can interact with certain medicines, including blood thinners like warfarin (increasing bleeding risk), metoclopramide (which can increase paracetamol absorption), propantheline (which can decrease absorption), chloramphenicol (which can increase its concentration), probenecid, and cholestyramine (if taken within one hour of paracetamol). Do not use with other paracetamol-containing products to avoid overdose.
What precautions should be taken while using FEBREX 500MG TAB?

Use with caution and consult a doctor if you have liver or kidney impairment, are severely malnourished, have a low body mass index, are a chronic heavy user of alcohol, or have sepsis. Alcohol consumption should be avoided, especially if you are a chronic alcoholic, as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
What happens if a dose of FEBREX 500MG TAB is missed?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
