KABVIE 10 TABLET

KABVIE 10 TABLET is a medication manufactured by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd..

  • Composition KABVIE 10 TABLET contains Vonoprazan 10 mg as its active ingredient. Vonoprazan is classified as a Potassium Competitive Acid Blocker (P-CAB), which works by inhibiting the H+, K+-ATPase enzyme in the stomach's parietal cells, thereby reducing the production of stomach acid. This mechanism offers a faster onset of action and sustained suppression of gastric acid compared to traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

  • Uses KABVIE 10 TABLET is primarily prescribed for the management of various gastrointestinal conditions related to excessive stomach acid secretion in adults. These include:

    • Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and its symptoms like heartburn, acidity, and indigestion.
    • Reflux or erosive esophagitis.
    • Stomach ulcers (gastric ulcers) and duodenal ulcers.
    • As an adjunctive therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, in combination with antibiotics such as amoxicillin and clarithromycin.
    • Prevention of recurrence of gastric or duodenal ulcers, particularly during the use of low-dose aspirin or NSAIDs.
  • Dosage and Administration Take KABVIE 10 TABLET exactly as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it. The typical dosage may be once or twice daily, but the correct dose and duration of therapy will be determined by your doctor based on your age, body weight, and medical condition. KABVIE 10 TABLET is suitable for use only in adults.

  • Side Effects Common side effects may include stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, nausea, high blood pressure, headache, changes in taste sense, vaginal yeast infection, cold-like symptoms, stomach inflammation, and urinary tract infection. Serious side effects, though less common, can include kidney problems (e.g., acute tubulointerstitial nephritis), severe diarrhea with stomach pain and fever, bone fractures (hip, wrist, or spine), and severe skin reactions (such as rashes, blistering, peeling, or bleeding accompanied by fever, chills, body aches, breathing difficulties, and enlarged lymph nodes). Consult your doctor if any side effects persist or worsen.

  • Precautions

    • Do not take KABVIE 10 TABLET if you are allergic to Vonoprazan or any of its ingredients.
    • Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, low blood magnesium, calcium, or potassium levels.
    • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as it is not known whether Vonoprazan can harm an unborn baby or pass into breast milk.
    • The safety and effectiveness of KABVIE 10 TABLET have not been established in children and adolescents (aged 18 years or below).
    • Avoid alcohol consumption while taking this medicine, as it can irritate the stomach lining and worsen symptoms.
    • Inform your doctor about all other medications, including anti-HIV medicines like Rilpivirine, and herbal supplements you are currently taking, as drug interactions can occur.
    • This medication may mask symptoms of gastric malignancy (stomach cancer) and increase the risk of Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD). Prolonged use may also be associated with bone fractures.
  • Storage Keep KABVIE 10 TABLET out of the sight and reach of children. Store at room temperature in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight, preferably below 30°C.

Frequently asked questions

Here are the frequently asked questions about KABVIE 10 TABLET:

What is KABVIE 10 TABLET used for?

KABVIE 10 TABLET is primarily used to manage various gastrointestinal disorders caused by excessive stomach acid secretions. These include Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), reflux or erosive esophagitis, heartburn, and stomach or duodenal ulcers. It can also be used as an additional therapy for eradicating Helicobacter pylori infection when combined with antibiotics like amoxicillin and clarithromycin.

How does KABVIE 10 TABLET work?

KABVIE 10 TABLET contains Vonoprazan, which is a Potassium Competitive Acid Blocker (P-CAB). It works by blocking a specific protein in the stomach lining called the H+, K+-ATPase enzyme or potassium ion transporter, which is essential for producing stomach acid. By inhibiting this protein, Vonoprazan effectively reduces the amount of acid the stomach produces. This mechanism provides faster and more sustained acid suppression compared to traditional proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

What is the usual dosage of KABVIE 10 TABLET?

KABVIE 10 TABLET contains 10mg of Vonoprazan and is taken orally. The specific dosage and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor based on your medical condition. It can be taken with or without food.

Is KABVIE 10 TABLET safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, it is important to inform your doctor before taking KABVIE 10 TABLET. Your doctor will assess the risks and benefits to determine if this medication is appropriate for you.

Can KABVIE 10 TABLET be taken with other medications?

KABVIE 10 TABLET can interact with certain medications. For example, it may reduce the effectiveness of Rilpivirine (used to treat HIV/AIDS). It can also reduce the absorption and effectiveness of medicines that require an acidic environment in the stomach to work properly, such as iron salts, Erlotinib, Dasatinib, Nilotinib, Mycophenolate mofetil, Ketoconazole, and Itraconazole. Always inform your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines, supplements, and herbal products you are currently taking to avoid potential interactions.
