REMOZEN M 1000MG Tablet

REMOZEN M 1000MG Tablet is an antidiabetic medication manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

  • Composition Each tablet contains a combination of Remogliflozin Etabonate 100 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 1000 mg.

  • Uses This medicine is prescribed to improve glycemic control in adults with Type II diabetes mellitus. It is used when diet, exercise, and other conventional managements do not provide adequate control over blood glucose levels. It helps manage high blood sugar, reducing the risk of complications such as kidney damage, eye damage, nerve problems, and cardiovascular disease. Remogliflozin works by eliminating excess sugar through urine, while Metformin reduces glucose production in the liver, delays sugar absorption from the intestines, and enhances insulin sensitivity.

  • Dosage and Administration REMOZEN M 1000MG Tablet should be taken strictly as instructed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not chew, crush, or break it. Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly without consulting your doctor.

  • Side Effects

    • Common Side Effects: Low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), nausea, flatulence, constipation, stomach pain, dizziness, changes in taste, a sore and red tongue, urinary tract infection, fever, low blood pressure, increased urination (including at night), thirst, anemia, weight loss, and joint pain. Vomiting and diarrhea are also reported.
    • Serious Side Effects: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of liver problems (e.g., dark urine, yellowing of skin or eyes), lactic acidosis (e.g., cold hands or feet, unusual muscle pain, trouble breathing), severe urinary tract infections, or a serious allergic reaction.
  • Precautions Before taking REMOZEN M 1000MG Tablet, inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems, low blood pressure, breathing problems, Type I diabetes, or urinary tract infections. It is not recommended for patients with severe uncontrollable diabetes, alcoholism, or severe systemic infections. Avoid alcohol consumption while on this medication, as it may increase the risk of unpleasant side effects. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is advised, and you should carry a sugary snack in case of hypoglycemia. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including other antidiabetic agents, iodine contrast medium, beta-2 agonists, corticosteroids, diuretics, and pain relief medications, to avoid potential drug interactions.

  • Storage Store REMOZEN M 1000MG Tablet in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, at a temperature between 10ºC to 30ºC. Keep it out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB:

1. What is REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB used for?

REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB is an antidiabetic medicine primarily used to improve glycemic control in adults with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is prescribed when diet, exercise, and other conventional treatments are not sufficient to adequately control blood glucose levels.

2. How does REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB work?

This medicine is a combination of two antidiabetic agents: Metformin and Remogliflozin. Metformin helps the body become more sensitive to insulin, reduces glucose production in the liver, and delays sugar absorption from the intestines. Remogliflozin is a Sodium-Glucose Co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that works by causing the kidneys to eliminate excess blood sugar through urine.

3. What is the usual dosage for REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB?

The dosage and duration of REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB should be strictly as advised by your physician. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, preferably taken with meals to avoid stomach upset, and at the same time each day for best results. Do not crush or chew the tablet.

4. What are the possible side effects of REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB?

Common side effects include low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia), nausea, flatulence, constipation, stomach pain, dizziness, changes in taste, a sore and red tongue, urinary tract infections, fever, low blood pressure, increased or decreased urination, thirst, anemia, weight loss, and joint pain. More serious, but less common, side effects can include signs of liver problems, lactic acidosis, severe urinary tract infections, or a severe allergic reaction.

5. Is REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB may be unsafe to use during pregnancy, and its use is generally not recommended for breastfeeding women. Limited human data suggests it may pass into breastmilk and harm the baby. Always consult your doctor, who will weigh the benefits against the potential risks before prescribing it.

6. Can REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB be taken with other medications?

Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including herbal supplements. REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB can interact with other antidiabetic agents, iodine contrast medium (used during X-rays), beta-2 agonists (like salbutamol), corticosteroids, diuretics (water pills), and medicines for pain and inflammation (like ibuprofen).

7. What precautions should be taken while using REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB?

Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart problems, low blood pressure, breathing problems, Type 1 diabetes, or urinary tract infections, or if you are scheduled for an X-ray. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels and kidney function is crucial during treatment. Avoid alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of side effects. It is not recommended for severe uncontrollable diabetes or patients with alcoholism.

8. What happens if a dose of REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one, as this can lead to low blood sugar.

9. How should REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB be stored?

REMOZEN M 1000MG TAB should be stored in a cool, dry place, typically between 15ºC to 30ºC, away from direct sunlight and out of the reach and sight of children.
