CRANBE CAP is a dietary supplement primarily used to support urinary tract health. It is manufactured by Torrent Pharmaceuticals Ltd..
Composition Each soft gelatin capsule contains 300 mg of Cranberry extract (powder). Other ingredients may include soya lecithin, beeswax, hydrogenated vegetable oil, arachis oil, dibasic calcium phosphate anhydrous, lactose monohydrate, gelatin, glycerin, sorbitol, and permitted synthetic food colors and preservatives.
Uses CRANBE CAP is indicated for:
- Prevention and supportive treatment of Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) as a co-prescription with antibiotics.
- Prevention of recurrent UTIs.
- Management of catheter-associated UTIs.
- Prevention and management of UTIs during pregnancy and lactation. It works by preventing bacteria, particularly E. coli, from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract, thereby reducing infection and helping to normalize urine color and odor. It also possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Side Effects Common side effects may include:

Serious but rare side effects, requiring immediate medical attention, include severe allergic reactions such as rash, hives, itching, breathing difficulties, chest tightness, or swelling of the face, mouth, lips, or tongue.

- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Consult a doctor, although it is generally considered safe.
- Alcohol: Exercise caution as there may be an interaction.
- Drug Interactions: Cranberry may interact with warfarin (increasing bleeding risk) and certain medications metabolized by the liver (CYP2C9 substrates). Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
- Overdose: Do not exceed the recommended dose. In case of suspected overdose, seek immediate medical consultation.

Frequently asked questions
CRANBE CAP is a dietary supplement primarily used to support urinary tract health and help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs). It contains cranberry extract as its main active ingredient.
Here are some frequently asked questions about CRANBE CAP:
What is CRANBE CAP used for?
CRANBE CAP is mainly used for the management and prevention of urinary tract infections (UTIs). It can be taken alongside antibiotics for treating UTIs and is also used to prevent recurrent UTIs, catheter-associated UTIs, and UTIs during pregnancy and lactation. It helps to reduce infection and can alleviate symptoms like discolouration or foul odour of urine.
How does CRANBE CAP work?
The key ingredient in CRANBE CAP is cranberry extract, which contains compounds called proanthocyanidins (PACs). These PACs work by preventing bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli (E. coli), from adhering to the walls of the urinary tract and bladder. This action reduces the likelihood of bacteria establishing an infection. Additionally, cranberry extract contributes to urine acidification and possesses anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
What is the usual dosage of CRANBE CAP?
The typical dosage is one capsule two to three times daily, or as advised by your physician. The capsule should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not crushed or chewed. It is important not to exceed the recommended daily dose.
What are the possible side effects of CRANBE CAP?
CRANBE CAP is generally considered safe for most individuals. However, taking very large quantities might lead to mild stomach upset or diarrhea. Rare but severe allergic reactions, such as rash, hives, itching, breathing difficulties, chest tightness, or swelling of the face, mouth, lips, or tongue, can occur. If you experience any severe side effects, seek immediate medical attention.
Is CRANBE CAP safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
CRANBE CAP is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy and may be a valuable option for managing UTIs in pregnant women. Some sources also state it's safe during breastfeeding. However, it is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking any supplement if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can CRANBE CAP be taken with other medications?
Cranberry extract, the active ingredient in CRANBE CAP, may interact with certain medications. It can increase the effects of blood thinners like Warfarin, potentially increasing the risk of bruising and bleeding. It may also affect how quickly the liver breaks down some medications, such as diclofenac, nifedipine, amitriptyline, diazepam, ibuprofen, and others, which could increase their effects and side effects. Always inform your doctor about all medications, supplements, and herbal products you are currently taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
What precautions should be taken while using CRANBE CAP?
Exercise caution if you have a history of kidney stones, as cranberry extracts contain oxalate, which can increase the risk of developing calcium-oxalate stones. If you have an allergy to aspirin or any components of CRANBE CAP (including soy or peanuts, which are sometimes present in the capsule ingredients), you should avoid this supplement. Diabetic patients should be mindful of potential added sugars in cranberry products. Always stay well-hydrated and do not exceed the prescribed dosage.
What happens if a dose of CRANBE CAP is missed?
If you miss a dose of CRANBE CAP, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
How should CRANBE CAP be stored?
CRANBE CAP should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight and moisture. The ideal storage temperature is typically below 25°C or 30°C. Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children and pets.
