  • Nasal congestion
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Itchy nose, throat, or eyes It is also prescribed for the treatment of nasal polyps, helping to reduce their size and associated symptoms like congestion and loss of smell.

Dosage and Administration DERINIDE AQ is administered as a nasal spray, typically 1 to 4 sprays into each nostril once per day, as directed by a healthcare professional.

  • Before first use or if not used for over 2 days, prime the pump by spraying into the air until a fine mist appears.
  • Shake the bottle well before each use.
  • Cleanse the nose thoroughly before application.
  • Tilt the head slightly forward, insert the nozzle into one nostril, and press down to release the spray while gently inhaling. Repeat for the other nostril.

  • Nosebleeds (epistaxis)
  • Sore throat (pharyngitis)
  • Nasal irritation or dryness
  • Coughing or sneezing

Frequently asked questions

DERINIDE AQ by ZYDUS CADILA is a nasal spray containing Budesonide, a corticosteroid medicine. It is primarily used to treat inflammatory conditions in the nasal passages.

What is DERINIDE AQ used for?

DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray is primarily used to relieve symptoms of seasonal or year-round allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever. It treats allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, nose, and throat. It is also used to reduce swelling and shrink nasal polyps.

How does DERINIDE AQ work?

DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray contains budesonide, which is a glucocorticosteroid. It works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (swelling) and allergies in the nasal passages. This action helps relieve blocked or runny nose, sneezing, and sinus discomfort.

How should I use DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray?

Shake the bottle well before use. Clean your nose thoroughly before applying the spray. Insert the bottle tip into one nostril, closing the other. Direct the spray towards the sides of your nostril, away from the dividing cartilage, and breathe gently as you spray. Repeat for the other nostril. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor, as this may worsen your symptoms.

What are the possible side effects of DERINIDE AQ?

Common side effects include nasal irritation, throat irritation, nosebleeds, cough, rash, headache, sore throat, and unpleasant taste or smell. In some cases, it can cause fungal infections like thrush in the nose and throat; rinsing your mouth after use can help prevent this.

Is DERINIDE AQ safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

For pregnancy, the inhaler form of budesonide is generally recommended. The oral form is not recommended unless necessary, and risks and benefits should be discussed with a doctor. Derinide-AQ Nasal Spray may be unsafe during pregnancy based on animal studies, so consult your doctor before use. During breastfeeding, the oral form of budesonide is known to excrete into breastmilk and is not recommended unless necessary. However, the amount of inhaled medicine excreted in breastmilk is negligible, so the nasal spray can generally be used in breastfeeding women, though caution is advised. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and risks.

Can DERINIDE AQ be taken with other medications?

You should inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking to avoid potential interactions. Certain medicines can increase the concentration of DERINIDE AQ in your system, and it may also decrease the effect of antihypertensives.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose of DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

What precautions should be taken?

Avoid using DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray if you have recent nasal ulcers, nasal surgery, or nasal trauma, as it may delay healing. It should also be used with caution if you have untreated severe infections (tuberculosis, fungal, bacterial, or viral infections) as it may worsen these conditions. Do not use it for symptoms of the common cold. To prevent the spread of infections, do not share your nasal spray with anyone else. Use with caution if you have liver disease, glaucoma, cataracts, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, diabetes, or a weak immune system.

How should it be stored?

DERINIDE AQ Nasal Spray should be kept in a cool, dry place and in its original packaging. Make sure this medication remains unreachable to children and pets.
