    • Miconazole Nitrate (2% W/W)
    • Neomycin Sulfate (0.5% W/W)

Uses O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM is prescribed for:

  • Resistant dermatoses, especially those with secondary bacterial or fungal infections.
  • Inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis, where it helps reduce inflammation, itching, and redness.
  • Bacterial skin infections, including those susceptible to neomycin (e.g., impetigo).
  • Fungal skin infections, particularly those susceptible to miconazole (e.g., ringworm, athlete's foot).

Dosage and Administration

  • Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected skin area as directed by your physician, typically 1-2 times a day.
  • Ensure the affected area is clean and dry before application.
  • Gently rub the cream into the skin until fully absorbed.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before and after application, unless the hands are the area being treated.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, face, groin, skin folds, nose, mouth, ears, or broken skin.
  • Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve to prevent recurrence.

Side Effects Common side effects may include:

  • Skin rash
  • Itching, redness, or burning sensation at the application site
  • Dryness of the skin

Frequently asked questions

What is O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM used for?

O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM is primarily used to treat various skin infections caused by bacteria and fungi. It is also effective for managing skin conditions that require corticosteroids, resistant dermatoses, and inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. The cream helps to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness associated with these conditions.

How does O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM work?

O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM is a combination medication containing Clobetasol propionate, Miconazole, Neomycin, and Chlorocresol. Clobetasol propionate is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, itching, and redness by suppressing the body's immune response. Miconazole is an antifungal agent that stops the growth of fungi by disrupting their cell membranes. Neomycin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by interfering with their protein synthesis. Chlorocresol acts as an additional antimicrobial agent and a preservative.

What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?

This medicine is for external use only. The affected skin area should be cleaned and dried thoroughly before application. Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area as advised by your doctor, gently rubbing it into the skin until fully absorbed. Do not apply the cream to your eyes or on broken skin. The frequency and duration of application depend on your specific condition and doctor's advice. Do not cover the treated area with airtight dressings like bandages unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM?

Common side effects may include a burning sensation, itching, irritation, redness, and dryness at the application site. These usually resolve on their own. With prolonged or excessive use, side effects like skin thinning (atrophy), lightening of skin color (hypopigmentation), or excessive hair growth (hypertrichosis) might occur. In rare cases, severe allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat causing breathing difficulty (anaphylaxis or angioedema) may occur, requiring immediate medical attention.

Is O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: Caution is advised, and it should only be used if the potential benefit outweighs the potential risk. It is recommended to consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, as some studies suggest potential harmful effects on the developing baby.

Breastfeeding: Caution is also advised, and you should consult your doctor. It is not known if the components of the cream pass into breast milk. If prescribed, avoid applying the cream to areas near the breast.

Can O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM be taken with other medications?

While systemic interactions are less common with topical medications, prolonged use or application over large areas might lead to some absorption. O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM may interact with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir, itraconazole), which can increase the absorption of Clobetasol propionate and raise the risk of side effects. Applying other topical medications on the same area of skin may also alter effectiveness or increase side effects. Inform your doctor about all medications you are currently using.

What precautions should be taken while using O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM?

This cream is for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, ears, groin, or broken skin. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. It is not recommended for children under 2 years of age. Use with caution if you have liver or kidney issues, as prolonged use could lead to systemic absorption. The cream is also not recommended for conditions like rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, certain viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, chickenpox), or if you have a perforated eardrum. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if your symptoms improve, and avoid touching or scratching the infected areas.

What happens if a dose of O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM is missed?

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not apply a double dose or extra amounts to compensate for the missed one. Always consult your doctor for clarification.

How should O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM be stored?

Store O2 DERM (NEW) CREAM below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep it out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine past its expiry date.
