Frequently asked questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about MIRABET 25 MG TABLET, containing the active ingredient Mirabegron:

1. What is MIRABET 25 MG TABLET used for?

MIRABET 25 MG TABLET is primarily used to manage the symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults. These symptoms can include an uncontrollable, sudden urge to urinate (urgency), needing to urinate many times during the day and night (increased urinary frequency), and the unintentional loss of urine (urgency incontinence). It works by helping to control these involuntary contractions of the bladder muscles, thereby improving bladder storage capacity.

2. How does MIRABET 25 MG TABLET work?

MIRABET 25 MG TABLET contains Mirabegron, which is a beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist. It works by relaxing the detrusor muscle, which is the muscle around your bladder, during the storage phase of the urinary bladder fill-void cycle. This relaxation increases the bladder's capacity to hold more urine, reducing feelings of urgency and the need to urinate frequently. Unlike some other OAB medications, Mirabegron does not block muscarinic receptors, which can lead to fewer side effects like dry mouth and constipation.

3. What is the usual dosage for MIRABET 25 MG TABLET?

The usual starting dose for Mirabegron (the active ingredient in MIRABET 25 MG TABLET) is 25 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose to 50 mg once a day after 4 to 8 weeks, based on your individual response and tolerability. It can be taken with or without food. It's important to swallow the tablet whole without crushing, chewing, or breaking it.

4. What are the possible side effects of MIRABET 25 MG TABLET?

Common side effects can include increased heart rate (tachycardia), urinary tract infection (UTI), headache, nausea, constipation, and diarrhea. Other possible side effects include nasal congestion, dizziness, and high blood pressure. If you experience severe side effects like swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe changes in blood pressure or heart rhythm, seek immediate medical attention.

5. Is MIRABET 25 MG TABLET safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

MIRABET 25 MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women due to limited information on its safety. Women who could become pregnant are advised to use appropriate birth control measures. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding women as it passes into breast milk. Always consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

6. Can MIRABET 25 MG TABLET be taken with other medications?

MIRABET 25 MG TABLET can interact with certain medications. It's crucial to inform your doctor about all prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, and herbal products you are taking. For example, it may increase the blood levels of some beta-blockers, leading to enhanced blood pressure-lowering effects or slower heart rates. Co-administration with anticholinergic medications for overactive bladder may increase side effects. It can also interact with certain medicines used for heart-related disorders and mental illness. Your doctor may need to adjust doses or monitor you closely for side effects.

7. What precautions should be taken while using MIRABET 25 MG TABLET?

You should inform your doctor if you have a history of high blood pressure, as Mirabegron can increase blood pressure, and regular monitoring may be needed. Caution is also advised if you have kidney or liver problems, bladder outlet obstruction (difficulty emptying your bladder), or a history of heart rhythm problems (including QT prolongation). This medication is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

8. What happens if a dose of MIRABET 25 MG TABLET is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose (e.g., more than 12 hours late), skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, as this may lead to an overdose or increased side effects.

9. How should MIRABET 25 MG TABLET be stored?

MIRABET 25 MG TABLET should be stored at room temperature, ideally between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius (68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit), away from direct light, heat, and moisture. Keep it out of the reach and sight of children and pets.
