Frequently asked questions
Volini Spray 60 G is a topical pain relief spray manufactured by SUN PHARMACEUTICAL IND.LTD. It is commonly used for various musculoskeletal pains and inflammatory conditions.
What is Volini Spray used for?
Volini Spray is primarily used to relieve muscle and joint discomfort, pain, swelling, and inflammation. It is effective for conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, back pain, muscle pain, sprains, strains, tendon injuries, and sports injuries.
How does Volini Spray work?
Volini Spray contains a combination of Diclofenac, Linseed Oil, Menthol, and Methyl Salicylate. Diclofenac and Methyl Salicylate are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that block the release of chemical messengers responsible for pain and inflammation. Linseed Oil helps reduce inflammation and improves blood circulation. Menthol provides an initial cooling sensation, while Methyl Salicylate acts as a counter-irritant, causing a warming effect, which together distract from the pain and aid in the penetration of other active ingredients into the skin.
What is the usual dosage for Volini Spray?
Volini Spray should be applied gently to the affected area three to four times a day. Hold the container with the nozzle 5-8 cm away from the skin when spraying. Massage gently if required.
What are the possible side effects of Volini Spray?
Common side effects may include a burning or stinging sensation, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application. These usually resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. If these effects worsen or persist, or if you experience allergic reactions such as rashes or hives, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
Is Volini Spray safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Information on the use of Volini Spray during pregnancy and breastfeeding is limited, and it is generally advised to consult a doctor before use. Diclofenac, an ingredient, may affect fetal growth. While topical pain relief sprays are often considered safe in moderation during breastfeeding, it is crucial to avoid applying them near the breast area to prevent accidental ingestion by the baby. Some sources explicitly state that Volini is not safe during pregnancy and should be avoided.
Can Volini Spray be taken with other medications?
Diclofenac, an active ingredient in Volini Spray, can interact with certain medications. Using it with other NSAIDs, blood thinners (like warfarin or heparin), corticosteroids, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) may increase the risk of side effects, such as stomach ulcers, bleeding, or increased drug levels. It is important to inform your doctor about all current medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
What precautions should be taken when using Volini Spray?
Volini Spray is for external use only. Avoid applying it to open wounds, cuts, irritated or damaged skin, eyes, mouth, nose, or mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water. Wash your hands well after application, unless the medication is being used to treat your hands. Do not cover the treated area with tight bandages or apply heat unless specifically advised by a doctor. Avoid using the spray immediately after bathing or shaving as it can cause severe skin irritation. Do not inhale the spray directly.
What happens if a dose of Volini Spray is missed?
If you are on a scheduled regimen and miss a dose of Volini Spray, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one.
How should Volini Spray be stored?
Volini Spray should be stored in a cool, dry place, ideally below 25°C or at room temperature, and away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat. Do not freeze the product. The container is pressurized; therefore, handle it with caution and do not pierce or burn it, even when empty. Keep it out of reach of children.
