JETACE TAB by GENESIS REMEDIES LIFESCIENCES

Name Common Name: Jetace Tab, Jetace 100/500 MG Tablet Brand Name: JETACE TAB

Composition JETACE TAB contains a combination of two active ingredients:

  • Aceclofenac (100 mg)
  • Paracetamol (500 mg)

Aceclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are involved in pain and swelling. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic, helping to relieve pain and reduce fever.

Uses JETACE TAB is primarily prescribed for the management of pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal conditions. It is used to treat:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Ankylosing spondylitis
  • Fever
  • Pain (including low back pain, dental pain, post-operative pain, and menstrual pain/dysmenorrhoea)

Dosage and Administration The medicine should be taken as prescribed by your doctor. It is typically taken twice a day, usually with food, to minimize stomach upset. It's crucial not to exceed the prescribed dosage without consulting a doctor. For the best benefit, take the medicine daily at around the same time.

Side Effects Common side effects of JETACE TAB may include:

  • Indigestion, heartburn, dyspepsia
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhoea, flatulence, constipation
  • Dizziness, headache, drowsiness
  • Skin rash
  • Loss of appetite

Serious side effects can include stomach bleeding, ulceration, kidney issues, and allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, rash, wheezing, itching, swelling of lips, tongue, or face, hives). Seek emergency medical attention if an allergic reaction occurs.

Precautions Consult your doctor before taking JETACE TAB if you have:

  • History of peptic ulceration, cerebrovascular bleeding, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus, porphyria, haematopoietic or coagulation disorders
  • Asthma, cardiac issues, liver or kidney impairment, or high blood pressure
  • Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase the risk of stomach bleeding or liver damage.
  • It is not recommended during pregnancy (especially the third trimester) or while breastfeeding.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, particularly lithium, digoxin, diuretics, ACE inhibitors, anticoagulants, or mifepristone, as interactions can occur.
  • Long-term use may lead to serious complications such as stomach bleeding and kidney problems; regular monitoring of kidney and liver function may be necessary.

Frequently asked questions

JETACE TAB by GENESIS REMEDIES LIFESCINCES is a combination medication containing Aceclofenac and Paracetamol, primarily used to relieve pain, inflammation, and fever.

Here are some frequently asked questions about JETACE TAB:

What is JETACE TAB used for?

JETACE TAB is used to alleviate pain, inflammation, and fever. It is effective in treating various conditions such as joint pain and swelling associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. It can also be used for general pain relief including muscle pain, dental pain, post-operative pain, headaches, and menstrual cramps.

How does JETACE TAB work?

JETACE TAB contains two active ingredients: Aceclofenac and Paracetamol. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the action of enzymes called cyclo-oxygenase (COX), which are responsible for producing prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) by increasing the pain threshold and acting on the brain's heat-regulating center. Together, they provide comprehensive relief from pain, inflammation, and fever.

What is the usual dosage of JETACE TAB?

The typical adult dosage is one tablet in the morning and one tablet in the evening. It should be taken with food or milk to minimize stomach upset. It is important to maintain a gap of 4-6 hours between doses and not exceed the maximum prescribed dose, which is usually two tablets per day. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions for dosage and duration.

What are the possible side effects of JETACE TAB?

Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion (dyspepsia), abdominal pain, constipation, dizziness, headache, fatigue, skin rash, and heartburn. More serious but less common side effects can include liver damage (especially with high doses of paracetamol) and gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers. If you experience severe or persistent side effects, consult your doctor.

Is JETACE TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

JETACE TAB is generally not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, due to potential risks to the fetus. During breastfeeding, Paracetamol is considered generally safe, but Aceclofenac should be used with caution and only if considered essential by a doctor after evaluating the potential benefits against risks to the infant. Always consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can JETACE TAB be taken with other medications?

Caution is advised when taking JETACE TAB with certain other medications. It should not be taken with other painkillers (NSAIDs) or medicines containing paracetamol to avoid overdose and increased risk of side effects. It may interact with blood thinners (anticoagulants like warfarin), diuretics, lithium, digoxin, and methotrexate, potentially altering their effects or increasing toxicity. Inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbals you are currently taking.

What precautions should be taken while using JETACE TAB?

Avoid taking JETACE TAB if you are allergic to aceclofenac, paracetamol, or other NSAIDs. It is contraindicated if you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, severe heart failure, high blood pressure, or significant kidney or liver disease. Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment as it can increase the risk of liver damage and stomach bleeding. Take the medicine with food or milk to prevent stomach irritation.

What happens if a dose of JETACE TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should JETACE TAB be stored?

JETACE TAB should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from heat, light, and moisture. Keep the medicine out of reach of children. Room temperature, typically between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius (68-77 degrees Fahrenheit), is suitable for storage.
