Frequently asked questions
What is Fevago Suspension 120 MG used for?
FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG is primarily used to relieve pain and reduce high body temperature (fever). It is effective for various conditions, including headaches, migraines, nerve pain, toothaches, sore throats, menstrual (period) pains, arthritis, muscle aches, and discomfort associated with colds, flu, and post-immunization pyrexia, particularly in children.
How does Fevago Suspension 120 MG work?
This medicine contains Paracetamol (acetaminophen), which functions as an analgesic (pain-reliever) and antipyretic (fever-reducer). It works by blocking certain chemical messengers called prostaglandins in the brain that are responsible for signaling pain and fever. Additionally, it promotes heat loss through sweating, which helps to reset the body's temperature-regulating center (hypothalamus).
What is the usual dosage of Fevago Suspension 120 MG?
The recommended dosage for FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG is typically 10 to 15 mg per kilogram of body weight, administered every 4 to 6 hours. It is crucial not to exceed 4 doses (or a maximum of 60 mg/kg) within a 24-hour period. A minimum interval of 4 hours should be maintained between doses. For children, the specific dose and duration depend on their age, body weight, and the severity of the condition, so it's important to follow the doctor's instructions. It is generally advised to take this medicine with food or milk to prevent stomach irritation.
What are the possible side effects of Fevago Suspension 120 MG?
FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG is generally well-tolerated when taken at the prescribed dosage. However, some individuals, especially children, may experience temporary side effects such as indigestion, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. Rarely, more severe side effects like skin rashes, itching, blisters, allergic reactions, and blood disorders can occur. An overdose can lead to serious and potentially life-threatening liver injury, kidney injury, decreased platelet count, and even coma.
Is Fevago Suspension 120 MG safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG (Paracetamol) is widely considered a first-choice painkiller during both pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is excreted into breast milk in very small amounts that are not known to be harmful to the infant. However, it is always recommended to consult a doctor before using any medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Can Fevago Suspension 120 MG be taken with other medications?
It is critical to avoid taking FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG with any other medicine that also contains paracetamol, as this can lead to an overdose and severe liver damage. Concomitant use with certain medications like metoclopramide and domperidone can increase paracetamol absorption. Medicines used to thin the blood, such as warfarin, may interact, and cholesterol-lowering medicines like cholestyramine should not be taken within one hour of FEVAGO Suspension. Taking FEVAGO Suspension with anti-seizure medications, anesthetics, or barbiturates may increase the risk of liver problems. Alcohol should be avoided while on this medication, as it can severely damage the liver.
What precautions should be taken while using Fevago Suspension 120 MG?
Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment. It is important to consult a doctor if the child has existing liver disease, kidney disease, blood disorders, allergies to medicinal compounds, or birth defects, as dosage adjustments or alternative treatments may be necessary. Always check the ingredients of other medicines to ensure they do not contain paracetamol, preventing accidental overdose. Giving FEVAGO Suspension with food or milk is recommended to prevent stomach upset.
What happens if a dose of Fevago Suspension 120 MG is missed?
If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one. If vomiting occurs within 30 minutes of taking the medicine, repeat the same dose once the child has calmed down. If vomiting occurs more than 30 minutes after administration, there is no need to redose until the next scheduled time.
How should Fevago Suspension 120 MG be stored?
FEVAGO Suspension 120 MG should be stored at room temperature, ideally below 25°C or 30°C. It should be kept in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Do not freeze the suspension. Always ensure the medicine is kept out of the sight and reach of children and pets.
