Description

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET (10 TAB)

Name: Neopar Plus Tablet (Brand: NEOPAR PLUS by LEEFORD HEALTHCARE LTD.)

Composition: Each tablet contains a combination of Nimesulide 100 mg and Paracetamol 325 mg. Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and Paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic.

Uses: NEOPAR PLUS TABLET is primarily used to provide relief from inflammation, pain, and fever. It is prescribed for a variety of conditions including headaches, mild migraines, muscle pain, dental pain, back pain, ear pain, throat pain, joint pain, and painful menses. It is also effective in managing pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, and post-operative pain.

Dosage and Administration: The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, without crushing or chewing. It is advisable to take this medicine with or after meals to minimize stomach discomfort. Dosage should be as directed by a healthcare professional, and the recommended dose should not be exceeded. This medicine is generally intended for short-term use.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include dizziness, excess sleepiness, stomach upset, nausea, abdominal discomfort, indigestion, and diarrhea. Peripheral oedema (swelling in legs or arms) may also occur. More serious side effects can include signs of severe allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling of face/mouth, shortness of breath), skin peeling, mouth ulcers, breathing problems, unexplained bleeding, and signs of impaired liver function (nausea, sudden weight loss, yellowing of eyes/skin).

Precautions: NEOPAR PLUS TABLET is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be given to children under 12 years of age (or below 6 years/20kg body weight). Patients with severe liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, active peptic ulcers, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding should avoid this medicine. Caution is advised for elderly patients. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it may increase the risk of liver damage. The medicine may cause drowsiness, so driving or operating heavy machinery should be avoided. Interactions can occur with blood thinners (like Warfarin), steroids, methotrexate, lithium, diuretics, and ACE inhibitors.

Storage: Store NEOPAR PLUS TABLET in a cool and dry place, protected from sunlight, and out of the reach of children. It should be stored below 30°C.

Frequently Asked Questions

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET, manufactured by Leeford Healthcare Ltd., is a combination medication containing Nimesulide (100 mg) and Paracetamol (325 mg). It is primarily used for its pain-relieving, anti-inflammatory, and fever-reducing properties.

Here are some frequently asked questions about NEOPAR PLUS TABLET:

What is NEOPAR PLUS TABLET used for?

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET is used to alleviate various types of pain, inflammation, and fever. This includes conditions such as headaches, mild migraines, muscle pain, dental pain, back pain, ear pain, throat pain, and painful menstruation. It also provides symptomatic relief in inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis.

How does NEOPAR PLUS TABLET work?

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET combines two active ingredients: Nimesulide and Paracetamol. Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, chemical messengers in the body responsible for causing pain and inflammation. Paracetamol acts as an analgesic (pain reliever) and antipyretic (fever reducer) by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, primarily in the central nervous system, and by promoting heat loss to lower elevated body temperature.

What is the usual dosage for NEOPAR PLUS TABLET?

The dosage of NEOPAR PLUS TABLET should be strictly as prescribed by a physician, as it can vary based on individual factors, the severity of the condition, and response to the medicine. It is generally advised to take the tablet with or after meals to minimize stomach discomfort. Do not exceed the recommended dose without consulting your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of NEOPAR PLUS TABLET?

Common side effects may include dizziness, excess sleepiness, stomach upset, nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and peripheral oedema (swelling in legs or arms). Some individuals might experience hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, red itchy welts, itching, or shortness of breath. More serious but rare side effects can include severe allergic reactions, skin peeling, mouth ulcers, breathing problems, unexplained bruising or bleeding, and signs of impaired liver function (like nausea, sudden weight loss, loss of appetite, or yellowing of the eyes and skin). If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, contact your doctor immediately.

Is NEOPAR PLUS TABLET safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy, especially in the last three months, as it can potentially harm the unborn baby, damage the fetus's heart or kidneys, or delay labor. It is also not advised for women who are planning to conceive, as it may affect fertility. Similarly, it is not recommended during breastfeeding because the medicine may pass into breast milk and could harm the nursing infant. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning a pregnancy.

Can NEOPAR PLUS TABLET be taken with other medications?

Caution is advised when taking NEOPAR PLUS TABLET with certain other medications. It can interact with anticoagulants (blood thinners like warfarin), cholestyramine, metoclopramide, and domperidone. Concomitant use with other paracetamol-containing medicines should be avoided. It may also interact with steroids (increasing the risk of stomach bleeding), certain blood pressure medications (like water pills and captopril), and some medicines for mental health issues (such as lithium, phenytoin, and phenobarbital). Always inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking to prevent potential drug interactions.

What precautions should be taken while using NEOPAR PLUS TABLET?

This medicine is not recommended for children under 12 years of age and should be used with caution in elderly patients (above 65 years). It should be avoided by individuals with allergies to Nimesulide, Paracetamol, or other NSAIDs, as well as those with severe kidney or liver disease, active peptic ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or severe heart failure. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking this medicine due to an increased risk of liver damage. Since it can cause dizziness and sleepiness, operating heavy machinery or driving should be avoided until you know how the medicine affects you.

What happens if a dose of NEOPAR PLUS TABLET is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should NEOPAR PLUS TABLET be stored?

NEOPAR PLUS TABLET should be stored in a cool, dry place, ideally below 30°C. Keep it away from direct light and moisture, and ensure it is kept out of the reach and sight of children, preferably in its original packaging.
