Dosage and Administration Zoamet Nasal Spray is for intranasal use only. For adults and adolescents aged 12 years or above, the typical dosage is 1-3 sprays into each nostril twice daily, or as advised by a physician. It is recommended to clear nasal fluids by blowing the nose gently before application. Insert the bottle tip into one nostril, closing the other, direct the spray towards the side of the nostril (away from the septum), and sniff gently as you spray. Repeat for the other nostril. Do not use for more than 3 to 7 consecutive days without consulting a doctor, as prolonged use can worsen symptoms (rebound congestion).

Frequently asked questions
Here are frequently asked questions about ZOAMET (ADULT) NASAL SPRAY 10 ML:
What is ZOAMET Nasal Spray used for?
ZOAMET Nasal Spray is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of nasal congestion (blocked nose), itching, and discomfort. This can be due to conditions such as the common cold, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis (including hay fever), nasopharyngitis, and can also help with acute and chronic middle ear infections and Eustachian tube obstruction.
How does ZOAMET Nasal Spray work?
ZOAMET Nasal Spray contains Oxymetazoline, which is a nasal decongestant. It works by narrowing the small blood vessels in the inner lining of the nasal passages. This action reduces swelling and inflammation, which helps to clear the blocked nose, decrease excessive nasal secretions, and allow for easier breathing.
What is the usual dosage for ZOAMET Nasal Spray?
For adults and adolescents aged 12 years or above, the typical dosage is 2 or 3 drops or sprays of 0.05% solution into each nostril every 10 to 12 hours. It should not be used more than two times in 24 hours. It is crucial not to use ZOAMET Nasal Spray for more than 7 consecutive days without consulting a doctor, as prolonged use can worsen nasal congestion (rebound congestion).
What are the possible side effects of ZOAMET Nasal Spray?
Common side effects include a temporary irritation or burning sensation after application, nasal dryness, nose discomfort, sneezing, increased nasal discharge, headache, and nausea. Less common but more serious side effects can include a fast or irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, dizziness, tremors, and sleep problems. If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
Is ZOAMET Nasal Spray safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is important to consult your doctor before using ZOAMET Nasal Spray. While oxymetazoline nasal sprays are generally considered safe during pregnancy because very little of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream, prolonged use should be avoided. For breastfeeding, it is also considered safe as minimal amounts are thought to get into breast milk and it does not typically affect milk supply.
Can ZOAMET Nasal Spray be taken with other medications?
Caution should be exercised if you are taking MAO inhibitors (for depression), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g., amitriptyline, doxepin), or beta-blockers, as ZOAMET Nasal Spray may interact with these medications. It is also advised to avoid using ZOAMET Nasal Spray simultaneously with other decongestants, such as those containing phenylephrine or pseudoephedrine, without a doctor's consultation.
What precautions should be taken while using ZOAMET Nasal Spray?
Do not use this nasal spray for more than 7 days to avoid rebound congestion, which can worsen your symptoms. Inform your doctor about any pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), glaucoma, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland), heart problems, or chronic nasal inflammation with very dry nasal passages. To avoid spreading infection, do not share the nasal spray bottle with others.
What happens if a dose of ZOAMET Nasal Spray is missed?
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
How should ZOAMET Nasal Spray be stored?
ZOAMET Nasal Spray should be stored in a closed container at room temperature, away from excessive heat, moisture, and direct light. It should not be frozen. Always keep the medicine out of the reach of children.
