Frequently Asked Questions
What is 8X Cream used for?
8X Cream is an antifungal medication primarily used for the topical treatment of various fungal skin and nail infections. These include tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea cruris (jock itch), tinea corporis (ringworm), candidiasis (moniliasis), and tinea (pityriasis) versicolor. It helps alleviate symptoms such as itching, redness, scaling, and inflammation caused by these infections.
How does 8X Cream work?
8X Cream contains Ciclopirox, an antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting or killing a wide range of fungi that cause infections. Specifically, it interferes with certain chemical substances within fungal cells, disrupting protein production and the cell division process, which ultimately hinders their growth and proliferation.
What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?
8X Cream is for external use only. It should be applied to the affected and surrounding skin areas, with clean hands, generally twice daily (in the morning and evening) or as directed by your physician. It's important to clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying a thin layer of the cream and gently massaging it in until fully absorbed. Do not cover the area with a bandage unless advised by a doctor. Wash your hands after application unless your hands are the treated area.
What are the possible side effects of 8X Cream?
The most common side effects associated with 8X Cream are localized reactions at the application site, such as itchiness, mild burning sensation, irritation, or redness. These side effects are usually mild and often resolve as your body adjusts to the medication. However, if these symptoms worsen or persist, or if you experience severe itching, blistering, swelling, or oozing, you should contact your doctor immediately as these could indicate a possible sensitization or allergic reaction.
Is 8X Cream safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
During pregnancy, 8X Cream should be used only if it is considered clearly necessary and prescribed by a doctor, as there is limited information available regarding its use. For breastfeeding women, 8X Cream should be used with caution, and it is advisable to consult your doctor before using it, as it is not known whether the medicine passes into breast milk. If prescribed while breastfeeding, do not apply the cream around the breast area.
Can 8X Cream be taken with other medications?
Since 8X Cream is for external use, it is less likely to interact with other systemic medicines. However, it's important to inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including topical steroids or medicines used to manage fits or seizures, as interactions are possible with these.
What precautions should be taken while using 8X Cream?
Avoid getting 8X Cream into your eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the area thoroughly with plenty of water and consult a doctor if irritation persists. Do not use the cream if you are allergic to ciclopirox or any of its ingredients. It's recommended to avoid using nail varnishes and artificial nails during treatment for fungal nail infections to prevent trapping moisture and promoting fungal growth. Also, do not share your nail filer to prevent the spread of infection. Consistent use for the full prescribed duration is crucial, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning.
What happens if a dose of 8X Cream is missed?
If you miss an application of 8X Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed application.
How should 8X Cream be stored?
8X Cream should be stored below 25°C or not more than 30°C. Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children and pets.
