CARDIBIS 5MG TABLET

Name Common Name: Cardibis 5mg Tablet Brand Name: CARDIBIS Manufacturer: Aristo Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd.

Composition Cardibis 5mg Tablet contains Bisoprolol Fumarate as its active ingredient, with each tablet providing 5 mg of Bisoprolol. Bisoprolol is a selective beta-1 adrenergic blocker.

Uses CARDIBIS 5MG Tablet is primarily prescribed for the management of:

  • High blood pressure (Hypertension)
  • Chest pain (Angina)
  • Heart failure
  • Arrhythmia (irregular heart rhythms) It works by slowing the heart rate and relaxing blood vessels, which reduces the workload on the heart and helps lower blood pressure.

Dosage and Administration The usual starting dose for hypertension is 5 mg once daily, which can be increased to 10 mg, and if necessary, up to a maximum of 20 mg once daily. For heart failure, treatment typically begins with a lower dose of 1.25 mg once daily, gradually increasing over several weeks as tolerated, up to a maximum of 10 mg daily. It is recommended to take the tablet orally, with or without food, at the same time each day. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without consulting a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

What is CARDIBIS 5MG TAB used for?

CARDIBIS 5MG TAB is primarily used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension), angina (chest pain), and heart failure. It can also be used to stabilize heart rhythms (particularly atrial fibrillation) and help prevent heart attacks.

How does CARDIBIS 5MG TAB work?

CARDIBIS 5MG TAB contains bisoprolol, which is a selective beta-blocker. It works by blocking beta-1 adrenergic receptors mainly found in the heart. This action slows down the heart rate, reduces blood pressure, and decreases the workload on the heart, making it pump blood more easily.

What is the usual dosage for CARDIBIS 5MG TAB?

The usual starting dose for high blood pressure is 5mg once daily, preferably in the morning. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your condition and response to treatment, potentially increasing it to 10mg or even 20mg once daily if needed. For heart failure, the dose is gradually increased starting from 1.25mg once daily. It's important to take it at a consistent time each day. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions.

What are the possible side effects of CARDIBIS 5MG TAB?

Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, headache, slow heart rate (bradycardia), nausea, and diarrhea. Some people may also experience cold extremities, depression, sleep disturbances, or shortness of breath. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. If they persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Is CARDIBIS 5MG TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

CARDIBIS 5MG TAB is generally considered unsafe during pregnancy as it may cause harmful effects on the fetus, including decreased blood supply and slowed growth. If used during pregnancy, close monitoring of uteroplacental blood flow and fetal growth is recommended. It is also probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding, and mothers should stop nursing if the medication is deemed essential. Always consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can CARDIBIS 5MG TAB be taken with other medications?

CARDIBIS 5MG TAB can interact with other medications, including other antihypertensive drugs (like ACE inhibitors, diuretics, calcium channel blockers such as verapamil or diltiazem), blood thinners, and diabetes medication. Concurrent use with non-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers can increase the risk of very slow heart rate or heart failure. Sympathomimetic drugs (like decongestants) can counteract its effects. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all medications, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, you are currently taking.

What precautions should be taken with CARDIBIS 5MG TAB?

Before taking CARDIBIS 5MG TAB, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, diabetes (as it can mask symptoms of low blood sugar), a very slow heart rate, severe circulation problems (like Raynaud's syndrome), severe heart failure, asthma or chronic lung disease, or are undergoing desensitization therapy. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may worsen side effects like dizziness. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly, as abrupt discontinuation can worsen heart conditions. Regular blood pressure and heart rate checks are recommended.

What happens if a dose of CARDIBIS 5MG TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose of CARDIBIS 5MG TAB, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

How should CARDIBIS 5MG TAB be stored?

CARDIBIS 5MG TAB should be stored in a cool, dry place, typically below 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children. Always check the expiry date on the packaging before use.
