Description
BIONECT CREAM
Name: Bionect Cream (Brand Name)
Composition: Bionect Cream contains Hyaluronic Acid Sodium Salt (0.2% w/w) as its principal active ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a biological polysaccharide, a major component of the extracellular matrix of connective tissues, known for its hydrophilic properties and role in tissue repair. Other ingredients include polyethyleneglycol 400 monostearate, decyl ester of oleic acid, emulsifying wax, glycerol, sorbitol solution 70%, sodium dehydroacetate, methylparaben, propylparaben, fragrance, and purified water.
Uses: Bionect Cream is indicated for the dressing and management of various skin lesions and wounds, providing a moist environment crucial for healing. It is used for:
- Partial to full thickness dermal ulcers (e.g., pressure sores, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, diabetic ulcers).
- Acute and chronic wounds, including cuts, abrasions, donor sites, and post-operative incisions.
- Irritations of the skin.
- First and second-degree burns. It helps protect against abrasion, friction, and desiccation.
Dosage and Administration: Wounds or ulcers should be cleaned and disinfected prior to treatment. Apply a thin layer of Bionect Cream onto the wound surface without extensive rubbing, two or three times per day. The treated area should then be covered with a sterile gauze pad and, if necessary, an elastic or compressive bandage.
Side Effects: Bionect Cream is generally well-tolerated. Common side effects are mild and may include sensitization phenomena, such as skin irritation, rash, redness, swelling, hives, or itching, especially with prolonged use. All suspected adverse reactions should be reported to a doctor.
Precautions:
- For external use only; avoid ingestion.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or inside the nose; rinse immediately with plenty of water if accidental contact occurs.
- Do not apply to damaged or broken skin, scalp wounds, eczema, or sensitive skin.
- Discontinue use if irritation or sensitization occurs and consult a healthcare professional.
- Each tube should be used by one patient only to reduce the risk of cross-infection.
- Do not use concomitantly with disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts, as hyaluronic acid may precipitate.
- Consult a doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Do not use after the expiration date.
Storage: Store Bionect Cream at room temperature, ideally below 30°C (86°F), away from direct sunlight and moisture. It may be stored for up to 24 months. Keep out of reach of children.
Frequently asked questions
BIONECT CREAM is a topical medication primarily used to aid in wound healing and skin regeneration. Its active ingredient is hyaluronic acid sodium salt. Here are some frequently asked questions about Bionect Cream:
What is Bionect Cream used for?
Bionect Cream is indicated for the dressing and management of various skin conditions. These include partial to full-thickness dermal ulcers (such as pressure sores, venous stasis ulcers, arterial ulcers, and diabetic ulcers), wounds like cuts, abrasions, donor sites, and post-operative incisions. It is also used for skin irritations and first and second-degree burns. The cream acts as a protective dressing to prevent abrasion, friction, and desiccation, creating an optimal environment for healing.
How does Bionect Cream work?
The principal active component of Bionect Cream is hyaluronic acid sodium salt (0.2%). Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring biological polysaccharide that is a major component of the extracellular matrix of connective tissues. In Bionect Cream, it works by creating a moist environment around the wound, which is crucial for the natural healing process. It acts as a lubricant and moisturizer, facilitating the migration of epithelial cells and the transport of essential nutrients to the wound site, thereby accelerating tissue repair and regeneration.
What is the usual dosage for Bionect Cream?
Before applying Bionect Cream, the wounds or ulcers should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. For long-standing ulcers, surgical or enzymatic debridement might be advisable prior to treatment. A thin layer of Bionect Cream should be applied onto the wound surface without extensive rubbing, two or three times per day. The treated area should then be covered with a sterile gauze pad and, if necessary, with an elastic or compressive bandage.
What are the possible side effects of Bionect Cream?
The prolonged use of Bionect Cream may lead to sensitization phenomena. If this occurs, it is recommended to discontinue the treatment and seek appropriate medical advice. All suspected adverse reactions should be reported to your doctor.
Is Bionect Cream safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Specific information regarding the safety of Bionect Cream during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not readily available. However, hyaluronic acid, its active ingredient, is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding as it is a substance found naturally in the body and topical absorption is typically minimal. It is always best to consult with your physician or healthcare provider before using any medication, including Bionect Cream, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
Can Bionect Cream be used with other medications?
Bionect Cream should not be used concomitantly with disinfectants containing quaternary ammonium salts, as hyaluronic acid can precipitate in their presence. However, the topical treatment of wounds with antibiotics or other local agents has generally not resulted in interactions or incompatibilities with Bionect Cream.
What precautions should be taken when using Bionect Cream?
Do not use Bionect Cream if you have a known hypersensitivity to any of its components. If the condition of the wound worsens, consult your physician immediately. Keep this product out of the reach of children. To reduce the risk of cross-infection, each tube of Bionect Cream should be used by only one patient. Avoid direct contact of the cream with sensitive areas such as the eyes, mouth, or inside the nose. If accidental contact occurs, wash the area immediately with plenty of water.
What happens if a dose of Bionect Cream is missed?
If you miss a dose of Bionect Cream, apply it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled application. In that case, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you frequently miss doses or have concerns, consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
How should Bionect Cream be stored?
Bionect Cream should be stored at room temperature (around 30°C). It can typically be stored for up to 24 months. Do not use the product after the expiration date printed on the package.
