Frequently asked questions

ONABET LOTION 30 ML by ERIS OAKNET HEALTHCARE PRIVATE LIMITED is an antifungal medication primarily used to treat various fungal skin infections.

What is Onabet Lotion used for?

Onabet Lotion is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, nails, and scalp. It is effective against conditions such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), ringworm, jock itch, tinea versicolor, and skin yeast infections.

How does Onabet Lotion work?

Onabet Lotion contains Sertaconazole Nitrate as its active ingredient. Sertaconazole works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting ergosterol synthesis, it weakens the fungal cell structure, leading to leakage of cellular contents and ultimately the death of the fungi.

What is the usual dosage?

Onabet Lotion should be applied externally to the affected area as directed by your doctor. The recommended dosage and duration depend on the severity of your condition and treatment response. Typically, a thin layer is applied once or twice daily. Always follow your doctor's instructions for proper application and duration of treatment.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects of Onabet Lotion may include a burning sensation, redness, itching, dryness, tenderness, or stinging at the application site. These side effects are usually temporary and tend to subside naturally. If any side effects worsen or persist, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Limited information is available on the safety of Onabet Lotion during pregnancy. It should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus, and always under a doctor's supervision. For breastfeeding mothers, limited safety data is also available, so it is crucial to consult your doctor before using this medication. Avoid applying it to areas near the breast if prescribed.

Can it be taken with other medications?

Since Onabet Lotion is for topical use, the likelihood of drug interactions is minimal. However, it is generally recommended not to apply other creams or ointments at the same time to the affected area, as this may impact the lotion's effectiveness. Always inform your doctor about all topical preparations and other medicines you are using to avoid undesired effects.

What precautions should be taken?

Do not use Onabet Lotion if you are allergic to sertaconazole nitrate or any of its ingredients. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, or mucous membranes; rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs. Do not apply it to windburned, sunburned, or open wounds. It is generally not recommended for children below 12 years of age due to limited safety and efficacy data. If irritation or sensitivity develops, discontinue treatment and consult your physician.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose of Onabet Lotion, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not apply extra lotion to compensate for a missed dose.

How should it be stored?

Onabet Lotion should be stored below 25°C. Keep it in its original container to protect it from light and moisture. Ensure the lotion is kept out of reach of children.
