TRIZ SYP 60ML

Name: Triz Syrup, Triz 5mg/5ml Syrup

Composition: Each 5ml of Triz Syrup contains Cetirizine Hydrochloride 5 mg. Cetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine.

Uses: Triz Syrup is an anti-allergic medication primarily used to relieve symptoms associated with various allergic conditions. These include seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy nose, and red, watery, or itchy eyes), chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives and itchy skin), other skin allergies, and insect bite reactions. It works by blocking histamine, a chemical messenger involved in allergic reactions, thereby reducing discomfort and symptoms.

Dosage and Administration: Triz Syrup should be taken orally as directed by a healthcare professional. It can be consumed with or without food. Shake the bottle well before use and accurately measure the dose using a measuring cup or dropper. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage or duration.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include sleepiness or drowsiness, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and sore throat (pharyngitis). If any side effects persist or worsen, consult a doctor.

Precautions: Triz Syrup should be used with caution and under medical advice in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is contraindicated in individuals with severe kidney disease or those allergic to cetirizine or hydroxyzine. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it may intensify drowsiness. Due to its potential to cause sleepiness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery while taking this medicine. Caution is advised for patients with bladder problems (risk of urinary retention) or epilepsy.

Storage: Store Triz Syrup in a cool, dry place, protected from light, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children and pets.

Frequently asked questions

TRIZ SYP 60ML is an antihistamine syrup containing Cetirizine as its active ingredient. It is commonly prescribed to relieve symptoms associated with various allergic conditions.

What is TRIZ SYP 60ML used for?

TRIZ SYP 60ML is primarily used to relieve symptoms of allergies such as hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), year-round allergies (perennial allergic rhinitis), and skin allergies like urticaria (hives), itching, and rashes. These symptoms can include sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy eyes, and watery eyes.

How does TRIZ SYP 60ML work?

TRIZ SYP 60ML contains Cetirizine, which is a second-generation antihistamine. It works by blocking the action of histamine, a natural substance produced by the body during an allergic reaction. By blocking histamine, it helps to reduce allergic symptoms like itching, sneezing, and runny nose.

What is the usual dosage for TRIZ SYP 60ML?

The dosage of TRIZ SYP 60ML (Cetirizine 5mg/5ml) varies by age:

  • Adults and children 6 years and over: 5 mL to 10 mL once daily, depending on symptom severity. Do not take more than 10 mL in 24 hours.
  • Adults 65 years and over: 5 mL once daily. Do not take more than 5 mL in 24 hours.
  • Children 2 to under 6 years of age: 2.5 mL once daily. If needed, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 5 mL once daily or 2.5 mL every 12 hours. Do not give more than 5 mL in 24 hours.
  • Children under 2 years: Use is generally not recommended unless advised and supervised by a doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Always use the provided measuring syringe or spoon for accurate dosing.

What are the possible side effects of TRIZ SYP 60ML?

Common side effects include drowsiness, excessive tiredness, dry mouth, dizziness, fatigue, headache, stomach pain, diarrhea, and vomiting. More serious, but less common, side effects that require immediate medical attention include severe allergic reactions (e.g., difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), fast or uneven heartbeat, weakness, tremors, confusion, vision problems, or little to no urination. Some individuals may also experience severe itching a few days after stopping long-term use.

Is TRIZ SYP 60ML safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: While there are no extensive studies, current information suggests that Cetirizine can be taken during pregnancy as there is no clear evidence that it will harm the baby or increase the chance of birth defects or miscarriage. However, it is always recommended to consult your doctor before taking any medication if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Breastfeeding: Cetirizine passes into breast milk in small amounts, but most reports indicate no problems for breastfed babies. It is generally considered one of the preferred antihistamines during breastfeeding due to a lower chance of causing drowsiness in the infant compared to some other antihistamines. Monitor your baby for any signs of unusual sleepiness. Discuss with your healthcare provider to determine the best course of treatment for you and your baby.

Can TRIZ SYP 60ML be taken with other medications?

TRIZ SYP 60ML can interact with certain medications. It is important to avoid alcohol, tranquilizers, sedatives, sleep aids, and opioid pain medications while taking Cetirizine, as this can increase drowsiness and decrease alertness. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all prescription and non-prescription medications, vitamins, herbal products, and dietary supplements you are taking, especially if you are using theophylline (for asthma or breathing problems) as it can affect how Cetirizine works in your body. Avoid taking other antihistamines concurrently.

What precautions should be taken while using TRIZ SYP 60ML?

TRIZ SYP 60ML may cause drowsiness or dizziness, so do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, as your dosage may need to be adjusted. Do not take this medicine if you have a known allergy to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, or any other ingredients in the syrup. If you are scheduled for an allergy test, inform your doctor, as Cetirizine may affect the test results, and you might need to stop taking it for several days prior. This syrup is not intended to treat severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis.

What happens if a dose of TRIZ SYP 60ML is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should TRIZ SYP 60ML be stored?

Store TRIZ SYP 60ML at room temperature, generally between 15°C and 30°C (59°F and 86°F). Keep it away from moisture, excessive heat, and direct light. Ensure the bottle is tightly closed when not in use and keep it out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use the medicine after its expiration date. Once opened, the syrup should generally be used within 6 months. Do not allow the liquid form to freeze.
