Frequently asked questions

Here are frequently asked questions about DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET:

What is DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET used for?

DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET is primarily used to treat symptoms of overactive bladder (OAB) in adults. These symptoms include a frequent and sudden urge to urinate, increased frequency of urination, and urinary leakage (urge incontinence).

How does DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET work?

DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET contains Darifenacin, which belongs to a class of medications called anticholinergics or antimuscarinics. It works by relaxing the muscles of the urinary bladder. This action reduces sudden contractions of the bladder, thereby decreasing the activity of the overactive bladder and allowing it to hold more urine, leading to better control over urination.

What is the usual dosage for DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET?

The recommended starting dose for DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET is 7.5 mg orally once daily. Based on individual response, the dose may be increased to 15 mg once daily, as early as two weeks after starting therapy. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet.

What are the possible side effects of DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET?

Common side effects include dry mouth, constipation, headache, nausea, indigestion, blurred vision, dry eyes, abdominal pain, and nasal dryness. More serious but less common side effects can include severe allergic reactions (angioedema, characterized by swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), urinary retention (difficulty emptying the bladder), and heat exhaustion or heat stroke due to reduced sweating.

Is DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET is generally not recommended during pregnancy (categorized as Category C medicine). Animal studies have shown harmful effects on developing babies, though human data is limited. For breastfeeding, it is advised to use with caution as it is not known if Darifenacin passes into breast milk and if it could harm the baby. Always consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Can DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET be taken with other medications?

Darifenacin, the active ingredient, can interact with various medications. It has severe, serious, moderate, and minor interactions with many drugs, especially those metabolized by certain liver enzymes (CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole or clarithromycin, and CYP2D6 inhibitors like quinidine). Using it with other medications that have anticholinergic properties may also increase side effects. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

What precautions should be taken while using DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET?

Avoid this medicine if you have certain conditions such as urinary retention (inability to empty the bladder), severe liver problems, uncontrolled narrow-angle glaucoma, gastric retention (difficulty emptying the stomach), myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), or severe ulcerative colitis/toxic megacolon. Use with caution if you have kidney disease, moderate liver problems, bladder outflow obstruction, gastrointestinal obstructive disorders, or autonomic neuropathy. Since it may cause dizziness, blurred vision, or drowsiness, avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medication affects you. Alcohol consumption may increase dizziness. It's not recommended for children under 18 years of age.

What happens if a dose of DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

How should DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET be stored?

Store DARILONG 7.5 MG TABLET in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. The typical storage temperature is between 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F) or below 30°C (86°F). Keep it out of the sight and reach of children.
