NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY 6GM 120MD by ARISTO PHARMA

Name

  • Brand Name: Nasohold Nasal Spray
  • Common Name: Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray

Composition NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY contains Fluticasone Furoate (27.5 mcg per spray, or 0.06% W/W) as its active ingredient. This medication is a corticosteroid.

Uses Nasohold Nasal Spray is prescribed for the management and treatment of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, including seasonal allergic conditions. It helps alleviate symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, stuffy or itchy nose, watery eyes, and sinus discomfort. It can also be used as an adjunct therapy for nasal polyps and mild sinusitis symptoms. It is not intended for treating the common cold.

Dosage and Administration Use Nasohold Nasal Spray exactly as directed by your doctor. Before use, gently blow your nose to clear nostrils. Prime the spray by pumping it a few times into the air until a fine mist appears, especially if using for the first time or after a period of disuse. Insert the tip into one nostril, tilting the head slightly forward, and direct the spray towards the side of the nostril, away from the nasal septum. Spray once while inhaling gently, then repeat for the other nostril. Typically, one spray in each nostril once daily is recommended, though adults may be prescribed two sprays if needed. Do not exceed the prescribed dosage.

Side Effects Common side effects may include headache, altered smell or taste sensations, dryness, soreness, or burning/itching in the nose, nasal inflammation, nosebleeds, and shortness of breath. More serious, though rare, side effects can include severe allergic reactions (e.g., rash, swelling of face/throat, difficulty breathing), facial pain, eye pain, white patches in the nose or throat, and painful swallowing. Prolonged use may lead to nasal ulceration, weakening of bones, diabetes, or eye conditions like cataracts or glaucoma.

Precautions Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to fluticasone or any other ingredients. Inform your doctor if you have asthma, a nose injury, recently had nose surgery, or have a nose infection. As it may lower your body's ability to fight infections, avoid contact with individuals suffering from infectious diseases like measles, tuberculosis, or chickenpox. In children, prolonged use requires monitoring of height due to potential growth retardation. It is not recommended for children below 6 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have liver problems, glaucoma, or cataracts. Do not use it concurrently with other steroid nasal sprays.

Storage Store Nasohold Nasal Spray in a cool and dry place, protected from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat. Keep it away from children and pets. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Store the bottle upright to prevent leakage. Discard any unused or expired medicine properly.

Frequently asked questions

Here are frequently asked questions about NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY 6GM 120MD by ARISTO PHARMA:

What is NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY used for?

NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY is primarily used to manage and treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis. This includes symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, stuffy or itchy nose, and watery eyes. It is effective for both seasonal and year-round allergies. It is not intended for treating the common cold.

How does NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY work?

NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY contains fluticasone (or fluticasone furoate), which is a corticosteroid. It works by blocking certain natural substances or chemical messengers in the body, such as histamines and prostaglandins, that cause inflammation and allergic reactions. This action helps to reduce itching, redness, and swelling in the nasal passages, providing relief from allergy symptoms.

What is the usual dosage for NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY?

Always use NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY exactly as directed by your doctor. A common starting dose is typically one or two sprays in each nostril once daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose based on your symptoms, potentially reducing it to one spray per nostril daily once symptoms are controlled. It may take a few days for the full effects of the spray to be noticed. NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY should not be used in children under 4 years of age.

What are the possible side effects of NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY?

Common side effects include nasal discomforts such as burning or itching, nosebleeds, nasal inflammation, headache, and nasal ulceration. Other possible side effects can include soreness or dryness inside the nose, and sore throat. In rare cases, it can cause more serious reactions like facial pain, painful swallowing, eye pain, or white patches in the nose or back of the throat (thrush). If you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction (rash, hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue), seek immediate medical attention. Prolonged use in children may lead to growth retardation, and your doctor may monitor their height. The medicine may also lower your ability to fight off infections.

Is NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There is limited information available regarding the use of NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant, you should consult your doctor before using this medicine. Your doctor will assess the potential benefits and risks to determine if it is essential for you to use.

Can NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY be taken with other medications?

NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY may interact with other medications. It is important to inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal preparations you are currently taking. Concomitant use with certain medications, such as ritonavir (for HIV), ketoconazole, itraconazole (for fungal infections), cobicistat-containing medicines, and other steroids, should generally be avoided unless deemed necessary by your doctor, as it can increase the risk of side effects. Additionally, avoid using other nasal sprays containing steroid medication at the same time.

What precautions should be taken while using NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY?

Do not stop using NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY without your doctor's approval, even if your symptoms improve. Inform your doctor if you have a history of asthma, nose injury or surgery, a nose infection, diabetes, a weak immune system, glaucoma, cataracts, herpes infection of the eye, tuberculosis, chickenpox, or measles. You should also avoid situations that worsen your allergic symptoms, such as exposure to pollen or dust mites, and avoid smoking. To prevent fungal infections (thrush), rinse your mouth after using the spray. If the spray causes dizziness or blurred vision, exercise caution when driving or operating machinery. Do not share your nasal spray with others.

What happens if a dose of NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY is missed?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed one.

How should NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY be stored?

Store NASOHOLD NASAL SPRAY in a cool, dry place, protected from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat. It should be kept away from children and pets. Do not refrigerate or freeze the medicine. Dispose of any unused medicine properly according to local guidelines; do not flush it down the toilet or throw it into the drain.
