Frequently asked questions

DOBIMUST CAPSULE (10 CAP) by MANKIND PHARMA LTD. - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dobimust Capsule used for?

Dobimust Capsule is primarily used to treat haemorrhoids (piles), varicose veins (enlarged, swollen, and twisted veins), and diabetic retinopathy (damage to the light-sensitive part of the eye due to diabetes). It is also used to manage chronic venous insufficiency, a condition characterized by impaired blood circulation in the veins.

How does Dobimust Capsule work?

Dobimust Capsule contains Calcium Dobesilate, which works by improving blood flow in veins by decreasing blood thickness. It also relaxes the muscles of affected body parts by reducing the leakage and fragility of blood vessels. Additionally, it helps to strengthen the walls of tiny blood vessels, decrease capillary permeability, and exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

What is the usual dosage of Dobimust Capsule?

The dosage of Dobimust Capsule should be as prescribed by your doctor, depending on your health condition and response to the medicine. For adults, a common dosage is 0.5 to 1 gram daily in divided doses. The capsule should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and can be taken with or without food.

What are the possible side effects of Dobimust Capsule?

Common side effects of Dobimust Capsule may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and diarrhea. Other reported side effects include fever, skin rash, joint pain (arthralgia), headache, vertigo, and dizziness. If you experience persistent or severe side effects, it's advisable to consult your doctor.

Is Dobimust Capsule safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Dobimust Capsule is considered a pregnancy category C drug, and its use during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, requires caution. It is generally not recommended unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks, and only under a doctor's prescription. For breastfeeding mothers, it is unknown if Calcium Dobesilate passes into human milk, so a doctor will determine whether it can be taken after assessing the risks and benefits.

Can Dobimust Capsule be taken with other medications?

Dobimust Capsule may interact with anticoagulants (like warfarin or heparin) and antiplatelet agents (like aspirin or clopidogrel), potentially increasing the risk of bleeding due to its effects on platelet aggregation. It is crucial to inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

What precautions should be taken while taking Dobimust Capsule?

Caution is advised for patients with severe kidney or liver impairment, as dosage adjustments may be necessary and accumulation could occur. Patients with bleeding disorders or those taking anticoagulants should also use it cautiously. Close monitoring of blood glucose is recommended for diabetic patients. It is also advised to inform your doctor if you have a low white blood cell count or develop signs of infection. If the medicine causes drowsiness or vision disturbances, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery.

What happens if a dose of Dobimust Capsule is missed?

If you miss a dose of Dobimust Capsule, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should Dobimust Capsule be stored?

Dobimust Capsule should be stored at room temperature, ideally below 30°C, in a clean and dry place. It should be kept out of reach and sight of children and pets. Ensure the medicine is used before its expiry date.
