Frequently asked questions

Here are the most frequently asked questions about RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB, along with concise answers:

What is RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB used for?

RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB is primarily used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acidity, and indigestion. It also helps manage gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux, and associated issues like stomach gas, bloating, and belching by neutralizing excess stomach acid.

How does RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB work?

RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB contains a combination of Sodium Alginate, Calcium Carbonate, and Sodium Bicarbonate. Calcium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate act as antacids, directly neutralizing stomach acid. Sodium Alginate reacts with stomach acid to form a viscous gel, creating a protective "raft" that floats on top of the stomach contents. This physical barrier helps prevent acid from flowing back into the esophagus, providing relief from reflux symptoms.

What is the usual dosage for RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB?

The usual recommendation is to chew two tablets completely four times a day, or as directed by your doctor. It should be taken after meals and at bedtime, or as needed for relief. Do not swallow the tablets whole and do not exceed the recommended dosage.

What are the possible side effects of RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB?

Common side effects may include diarrhea, constipation, bloating, gas (flatulence), belching, nausea, and vomiting. Some individuals might also experience loss of appetite, muscle ache, altered taste, or moderate edema. If any side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Is RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

If you are pregnant, it is advisable to consult your doctor before using RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB. Limited data is available, and some sources suggest potential unwanted side effects during pregnancy, emphasizing the need for medical advice. While RACIRAFT can generally be used during breastfeeding, consultation with your doctor is recommended before use.

Can RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB be taken with other medications?

RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB may interfere with the absorption of certain other medications, such as some antibiotics (e.g., tetracycline), thyroid hormones, beta-blockers, and digoxin. To avoid potential interactions, it is advisable to maintain a 1 to 2-hour gap between taking RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB and other medications. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you are currently taking.

What precautions should be taken while using RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB?

Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Inform your doctor if you have kidney stones, kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, or hypercalcaemia (excess calcium in the blood). Avoid consuming alcohol, as it may worsen side effects or increase acid production. It's also recommended to avoid high-calcium foods or beverages immediately around the time of taking the medicine as they may reduce its absorption. Avoid lying down immediately after taking the medicine or after meals. Limit caffeine, spicy foods, and carbonated drinks, and avoid smoking as these can trigger acidity.

What happens if a dose of RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. This medicine is often taken on an as-needed basis.

How should RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB be stored?

RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB should be stored at room temperature, typically between 20-25°C or below 30°C. Keep it in a tight container, protected from light and moisture, and out of the reach of children.

Is RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB suitable for long-term use?

Long-term use of RACIRAFT CHEWABLE TAB should be done under medical supervision. Prolonged use may potentially lead to electrolyte imbalances. Discuss the appropriate duration of treatment with your doctor.
