- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: CORBIS D 5 TAB may be unsafe to use during pregnancy and is probably unsafe during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor.
- Kidney/Liver Disease: Use with caution in patients with kidney disease. It is generally safe for patients with liver disease if prescribed by a doctor.

Frequently asked questions
CORBIS D 5 TAB by Torrent Pharma is a combination medication containing Bisoprolol 5 mg and Dapagliflozin 10 mg. It is prescribed for specific cardiovascular and metabolic conditions.
What is CORBIS D 5 TAB used for?
CORBIS D 5 TAB is primarily used to treat Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in patients who also have high blood pressure or cardiovascular risks. It helps manage blood sugar levels, reduces strain on the heart, and aims to prevent complications associated with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. It is also indicated for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).
How does CORBIS D 5 TAB work?
This medicine combines two active ingredients:
- Bisoprolol: This is a beta-blocker that works by slowing down the heart rate and decreasing the force with which the heart muscles contract. This reduces the heart's workload and improves its pumping efficiency.
- Dapagliflozin: This is an SGLT2 inhibitor. It works by causing the kidneys to remove excess salt (sodium), water, and glucose from the body through urine. This reduces volume overload, lowers blood pressure, and lessens the workload on the heart, which can benefit cardiac and renal function.
What is the usual dosage for CORBIS D 5 TAB?
The usual starting dose is one tablet containing Dapagliflozin 10 mg and Bisoprolol fumarate 5 mg once daily for 1-2 weeks. Your doctor may then increase the dosage to Dapagliflozin 10 mg + Bisoprolol fumarate 10 mg once daily if it is well tolerated, for long-term use. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
What are the possible side effects of CORBIS D 5 TAB?
Common side effects may include fatigue, dizziness, headache, increased frequency of urination, and vaginal yeast infections or urinary tract infections. It can also cause orthostatic hypotension, which is a drop in blood pressure when standing up, leading to dizziness. While less likely to cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) on its own, the risk increases if taken with other diabetes medications.
Is CORBIS D 5 TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
CORBIS D 5 TAB may be unsafe to use during pregnancy and is generally not recommended. It can have harmful effects on the fetus. Similarly, it is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding as the medication can pass into breast milk and may harm newborn babies. Always consult your doctor for guidance if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
Can CORBIS D 5 TAB be taken with other medications?
CORBIS D 5 TAB can interact with other medications. Taking it with other blood pressure-lowering medicines may lead to an excessive drop in blood pressure. It can also interact with certain antiarrhythmic drugs, potentially causing a significant slowing of the heart rate. If you are taking other diabetes medications, your blood sugar levels should be closely monitored due to the potential for increased hypoglycemia risk. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Always inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, or herbal products you are currently taking to prevent possible interactions.
What precautions should be taken while taking CORBIS D 5 TAB?
Do not stop taking CORBIS D 5 TAB suddenly, especially if you have high blood pressure or heart conditions, as this can worsen your condition. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is important. Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as this medicine may not be suitable for individuals with moderate to severe kidney disease. It is not recommended for patients with Type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis. Caution is also advised for those with liver impairment, or conditions such as severe bronchial asthma.
What happens if a dose of CORBIS D 5 TAB is missed?
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one, as this may increase the chances of side effects. Missing a dose may lead to high blood pressure and other heart-related complications.
How should CORBIS D 5 TAB be stored?
CORBIS D 5 TAB should be stored at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat. Keep the medicine securely out of reach and sight of children and pets. Avoid exposure to excessive light.
