Volini Gel 20GM

Volini Gel, also known as Volini Pain Relief Gel, is a topical analgesic manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd..

Composition Volini Gel contains a blend of active ingredients: Diclofenac Diethylamine (equivalent to 1% w/w Diclofenac Sodium), Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, and Linseed Oil. Benzyl alcohol is included as a preservative.

Uses Volini Gel is primarily used for the local symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal and joint disorders. It is effective for conditions such as backache, muscle and joint pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, wrist pain, calf pain, sprains, strains, sports injuries, and mild arthritis, rheumatism, and sciatica. It helps reduce inflammation, swelling, and stiffness, promoting muscle relaxation and faster recovery.

Dosage and Administration For adults and children 14 years and over, Volini Gel should be gently rubbed into the skin. Apply 2-4g (depending on the affected area) 3-4 times a day. A minimum of 4 hours should be left between applications, and the gel should not be applied more than 4 times in a 24-hour period. The maximum daily dose is 16g, and the maximum weekly dose is 112g. It is for external use only. Wash hands thoroughly after application, unless the hands are the treated area. Do not apply to broken skin, open wounds, or mucous membranes. Avoid applying before, during, or after activities that increase skin temperature.

Side Effects Common side effects may include itching, irritation, redness, or a burning sensation at the application site. These typically resolve over time. Consult a doctor if side effects persist or worsen. Serious side effects are rarely reported.

Precautions Volini Gel is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, or open wounds. Discontinue use if a skin rash develops. Consult a doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have asthma, especially if sensitive to NSAIDs. It is not recommended for children below 14 years unless advised by a doctor. Do not overuse the gel. While systemic absorption is low, inform your doctor about other medications to avoid potential interactions.

Storage Store Volini Gel in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight, at room temperature. Do not refrigerate and keep out of reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Here are the frequently asked questions about Volini Gel 20gm by Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd:

What is Volini Gel used for?

Volini Gel is a topical pain relief medication primarily used to alleviate musculoskeletal pain, strains, sprains, spasms, and cramps. It is also effective for managing backache, joint pain (including that associated with mild arthritis), neck pain, shoulder pain, rheumatism, and sciatica, as well as for post-workout recovery.

How does Volini Gel work?

Volini Gel contains a combination of active ingredients: Diclofenac Diethylamine, Methyl Salicylate, Menthol, and Linseed Oil. Diclofenac Diethylamine is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the release of chemical messengers responsible for pain and inflammation. Methyl Salicylate and Menthol act as counter-irritants, creating a cooling sensation followed by warmth, which helps desensitize nerve endings and distract from pain. Menthol also helps dilate blood vessels to improve circulation, while Methyl Salicylate reduces redness and swelling. Linseed Oil contributes anti-inflammatory properties and helps reduce swelling.

What is the usual dosage for Volini Gel?

For optimal results, apply a small amount of Volini Gel (approximately 2-4g, depending on the affected area size) gently to the painful region 3-4 times a day. The gel is quickly absorbed and usually does not require vigorous massage. Do not exceed a maximum daily dose of 16g.

What are the possible side effects of Volini Gel?

Common side effects can include a rash, skin irritation or inflammation, redness, itching, or a burning sensation at the application site. These effects usually resolve over time. If you experience any persistent or worsening adverse effects, it is recommended to seek medical help immediately.

Is Volini Gel safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

It is recommended to consult your doctor before using Volini Gel if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Diclofenac, an ingredient in Volini Gel, is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy. While topical pain relief creams generally have minimal systemic absorption during breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid applying Volini Gel near the breast area to prevent accidental ingestion by the baby.

Can Volini Gel be used with other medications?

Volini Gel can generally be used alongside other supplements or oral medications. However, it is always advisable to consult a healthcare professional to ensure there are no potential interactions. Exercise caution if using with other NSAIDs, blood thinners (like warfarin), corticosteroids, SSRIs, or SNRIs, as systemic absorption of diclofenac, though low, could potentially increase the risk of side effects or alter the effectiveness of these medications.

What precautions should be taken when using Volini Gel?

Volini Gel is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nose, open wounds, or broken skin. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Wash your hands well after applying the gel, unless your hands are the area being treated. Do not apply the gel right before, during, or after activities that increase skin temperature (e.g., bathing, swimming, heavy exercise), and wait until your skin has cooled. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight on the treated area. Consult your doctor if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients, a history of asthma, or if your condition persists for more than 7 days or worsens.

What happens if a dose of Volini Gel is missed?

Volini Gel is typically applied when you experience pain, so missing a dose is rare. If a scheduled application is missed, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose, as this will not increase effectiveness and may lead to skin irritation.

How should Volini Gel be stored?

Volini Gel should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. It is important not to freeze or refrigerate the product. Always keep it out of the reach of children.
