Description

LULIFIN LOTION 30 ML

Name: Lulifin Lotion (Brand: LULIFIN LOTION by SUN PHARMA (R) - PRIMALANDS (D))

Composition:

  • Active Ingredient: Luliconazole 1% w/v

Uses: Lulifin Lotion is an antifungal medicine primarily used to treat various fungal infections of the skin. It works by killing and preventing the growth of fungi by damaging their cell membranes, specifically by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis. It is prescribed for conditions such as:

  • Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis)
  • Jock itch (Tinea cruris)
  • Ringworm (Tinea corporis)
  • Dhobie Itch
  • Thrush
  • Dry, flaky skin caused by these infections.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Lulifin Lotion is for external use only.
  • Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before application.
  • Apply a thin layer of the lotion to cover the affected area and at least one inch of the immediate surrounding skin.
  • Wash hands properly after application, unless the hands are the area being treated.
  • The typical dosage guidance is:
    • For athlete's foot (between the toes): Apply once a day for 2 weeks.
    • For jock itch or ringworm: Apply once a day for 1 week.
  • Do not use more often or in higher quantity than prescribed, as this will not clear the condition faster and may increase side effects.
  • Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve to prevent recurrence.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water and seek immediate medical attention if irritation persists.
  • Do not cover the affected area with bandages or other coverings unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

Side Effects: Common side effects are usually not serious and tend to resolve over time. These may include:

  • Burning sensation at the application site
  • Irritation at the application site
  • Itching at the application site
  • Redness at the application site
  • Skin dryness or peeling. Serious side effects, though rare, may include signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling of the lips, throat, or face, difficulty swallowing or breathing, and nausea. Seek emergency medical help if these occur.

Precautions:

  • Lulifin Lotion is for external use only and should not be applied to the eyes, mouth, nose, vagina, or broken skin.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions to luliconazole or any other ingredients in the lotion.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as there is limited safety data for use during pregnancy, and while absorption through the skin is low during breastfeeding, it should not be applied to the breast, nipple, or nearby areas.
  • This medicine is generally not recommended for children below 12 years of age for athlete's foot and jock itch. It may be used in children above 2 years to treat ringworm if prescribed by a doctor.
  • If the infection does not clear up after the prescribed treatment duration (e.g., two to four weeks), consult your doctor.
  • Lulifin Lotion is generally not recommended for scalp infections; consult your doctor for appropriate alternatives.

Storage:

  • Store Lulifin Lotion at room temperature, ideally between 20°C to 25°C or below 30°C.
  • Keep it in a cool, dry place, away from excessive heat, light, moisture, and direct sunlight.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children and pets.
  • Once opened, the lotion should ideally be used within one month.
  • Discard any unused medicine properly and do not dispose of it in trash or wastewater.
Frequently asked questions

What is Lulifin Lotion used for?

Lulifin Lotion 30ml is an antifungal medication primarily used to treat various fungal infections of the skin. These include common conditions such as ringworm (tinea corporis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and athlete's foot (tinea pedis). It also helps to relieve associated symptoms like itching, redness, irritation, and scaling.

How does Lulifin Lotion work?

Lulifin Lotion contains luliconazole, which is an antifungal agent. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. By damaging the fungal cell membrane and causing holes in it, Lulifin Lotion effectively stops the growth of fungi and ultimately kills them, clearing the infection.

What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?

Lulifin Lotion is for external use only and should be applied exactly as directed by your doctor. Generally, a thin layer of the lotion is applied to the affected skin area and about 1 inch of the surrounding skin. For athlete's foot, it's typically applied once daily for 2 weeks. For jock itch and ringworm, it's usually applied once daily for 1 week. Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the lotion. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, or vagina.

What are the possible side effects of Lulifin Lotion?

Most people may experience mild and temporary side effects at the application site. Common side effects include a burning sensation, itching, stinging, irritation, redness, dryness, or peeling of the skin. If these symptoms persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult your doctor. Serious allergic reactions are rare, but if you experience signs such as rash, swelling, or breathing difficulties, seek immediate medical attention.

Is Lulifin Lotion safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Caution is advised when using Lulifin Lotion during pregnancy. While there are limited human studies, animal studies have shown potential harmful effects on a developing baby. For breastfeeding mothers, it is probably unsafe as the drug may pass into breast milk. It is crucial to consult your doctor before using this lotion if you are pregnant or breastfeeding to weigh the benefits against potential risks. If used while breastfeeding, it should not be applied to the breast, nipple, or nearby areas that may come into direct contact with the infant's skin.

Can it be taken with other medications?

Since Lulifin Lotion is applied externally to the skin, it is less likely to have significant drug-drug interactions with other systemic medications. However, using it in larger amounts or for prolonged periods might interact with certain medications like omeprazole (used for acidity). There are no known interactions with alcohol or food. It's always best to inform your doctor about all other medications you are currently taking.

What precautions should be taken?

Do not apply Lulifin Lotion to the eyes, mouth, or vaginal region. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the area thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists. Do not use this lotion for any other skin ailment without consulting your doctor. Individuals with a known allergy to luliconazole or any other ingredients in the lotion should avoid using it. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age for athlete's foot or jock itch, but may be used in children above 2 years to treat ringworm if prescribed by a doctor.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose of Lulifin Lotion, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply extra lotion to make up for a missed dose.

How should it be stored?

Lulifin Lotion should be stored at room temperature, typically between 20°C and 25°C. Keep the container tightly closed and protect it from light, moisture, and excess heat. Always keep the lotion out of reach of children and pets. Ensure to use the medication before its expiry date.
