Description

BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML by EVONEXT HEALTHCARE DIV.

Name

  • Brand Name: BUDONEB L RESPULES
  • Common Name: Budesonide Inhalation Suspension

Composition

  • Active Ingredient: Budesonide (0.5 mg/2 ml)

Uses BUDONEB L RESPULES are prescribed for the maintenance treatment and prophylactic therapy of various respiratory conditions.

  • Asthma: It is used to manage asthma by reducing airway inflammation, preventing asthma attacks, and improving overall breathing function. It helps control symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): It helps manage symptoms like breathlessness, chronic cough, and wheezing by reducing airway inflammation and improving lung capacity.
  • Acute Laryngotracheobronchitis (Croup): It is also recommended for infants and children with acute laryngotracheobronchitis.

Dosage and Administration BUDONEB L RESPULES are for inhalation only and should be administered via a jet nebuliser equipped with a mouthpiece or a suitable face mask.

  • The dose and duration are determined by a healthcare professional based on the individual's medical condition.
  • Adults (Asthma): Initial dose is typically 0.5 to 1 mg twice daily. The dose may be increased in some cases.
  • Infants and Children (Croup): The usual dose is 2 mg of nebulised budesonide.
  • It is crucial to use the medicine regularly, even when symptoms are not present, for ongoing control.
  • Important: This medicine is not intended for rapid relief of acute asthma attacks; a fast-acting "reliever" should be used for sudden breathing difficulties.
  • After each use, rinse the mouth with water to minimize the risk of oropharyngeal thrush. If a face mask is used, wash the facial skin with water to prevent irritation.
  • The nebuliser should be connected to an air compressor with an adequate airflow (5-8 L/min), and the fill volume should be 2-4 mL.

Side Effects

  • Common Side Effects: Indigestion, headache, abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, constipation, gas, vomiting, stuffy nose, tiredness/weakness, sore throat, cough, hoarseness, body aches, chills, congestion, diarrhea, fever, joint pain, loss of appetite, muscle aches and pains, sneezing, sweating, voice changes.
  • Serious Side Effects (Seek medical attention if experienced): Increased risk of infections (e.g., high temperature, chills, very sore throat, mouth sores, non-healing wounds), adrenal insufficiency (darkening of the skin, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting, loss of appetite, depression, nausea, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting), decreased bone mineral density (osteoporosis), blurred vision, cataracts, glaucoma. Rarely, "moon face" (puffy, rounded face) and weight gain may occur with long-term, high-dose use. Allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis (sudden swelling of lips/mouth/throat/tongue, rapid/struggling breathing, blue skin, confusion, drowsiness), require immediate emergency help.

Precautions

  • Inform your doctor about any existing health conditions, especially tuberculosis, infections (mouth, lungs), high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, peptic ulcers, glaucoma, cataracts, a weakened immune system, eczema, or kidney/liver disorders.
  • Avoid exposure to individuals with colds, flu, or chickenpox/measles, as this medicine may increase the risk of infections.
  • For pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, consult a doctor before use, as the benefits and risks need to be carefully weighed.
  • Long-term use may affect vision; regular eye examinations by an ophthalmologist may be necessary.
  • Do not mix Budesonide for nebulization with any other medicine in the nebulizer.
  • Grapefruit may alter the effects of budesonide.
  • The medicine may cause dizziness; operate machinery or drive only if you are alert.

  • Store unopened respules in their protective foil pouch to protect from light.

  • Keep out of sight and reach of children.
Frequently asked questions

Here are frequently asked questions about BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML:

What is BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML used for?

BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML is a combination medicine primarily used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It helps control symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, and coughing. It may also be used in infants and children to treat acute laryngotracheobronchitis, commonly known as croup.

How does BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML work?

This medicine contains two active ingredients: Budesonide and Levosalbutamol. Budesonide is a corticosteroid that works by reducing inflammation and swelling in the airways of the lungs, making breathing easier and preventing asthma attacks. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways, widening them and allowing air to flow more easily into and out of the lungs.

What is the usual dosage for BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML?

The dosage of BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML is individualized and determined by your doctor based on your medical condition and response to treatment. It is typically administered via a jet nebulizer. It's crucial to use the medicine exactly as prescribed, even if you feel well, to prevent symptoms from reoccurring.

What are the possible side effects of BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML?

Common side effects may include headache, sore throat, hoarseness, coughing, indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, gas, vomiting, stuffy nose, tiredness, or weakness. Serious side effects are rare but can include fungal infection in the mouth (oral thrush), changes in vision (such as blurred vision, glaucoma, or cataracts), increased risk of infections due to a weakened immune system, and adrenal gland problems. Rinse your mouth with water after each use to minimize the risk of oral thrush.

Is BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The safety of BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML during pregnancy or breastfeeding is not fully established. It is known that budesonide passes into breast milk. If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor to discuss the potential risks and benefits before using this medicine.

Can BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML be taken with other medications?

You should inform your doctor about all prescription, over-the-counter, herbal, and vitamin supplements you are taking. Some medicines may interact with Budesonide, potentially increasing its effects or the risk of side effects. These include medicines for fungal infections (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole), certain HIV medications (e.g., ritonavir, cobicistat), and other steroid medications. Do not mix BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML with other medications in the nebulizer unless specifically instructed by your doctor. However, budesonide may be mixed with certain solutions like sodium chloride, terbutaline, salbutamol, sodium cromoglycate, or ipratropium, but the mixture should be used within 30 minutes.

What precautions should be taken when using BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML?

BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML is a controller medication and is not intended for the rapid relief of sudden asthma attacks. A fast-acting "rescue" inhaler should be used for acute symptoms. Rinse your mouth with water and spit it out after each dose to help prevent oral thrush. Avoid exposure to sick individuals as the medicine can weaken your immune system. Inform your doctor if you have a history of tuberculosis, infections, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, glaucoma, cataracts, or liver or kidney disorders.

What happens if a dose of BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML is missed?

If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML be stored?

BUDONEB L RESPULES 2ML should be stored upright in a cool, dry place, protected from sunlight, and at or below 25°C (77°F) or below 30°C. Keep unopened respules in their protective foil pouch. Once a pouch is opened, the unused ampoules should be used within three months, protected from light. Any suspension remaining in an opened respule after use must be discarded. Keep out of reach of children.
