VENTIDOX NAC TAB

Name

Brand Name: VENTIDOX NAC TAB Manufacturer: Mankind Pharma Pvt Ltd (Marketed by Lifestar Pharma Pvt Ltd)

Composition

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is a combination of two active ingredients:

  • Acebrophylline: 100mg
  • Acetylcysteine: 600mg

Acebrophylline functions as a bronchodilator with mucolytic properties, relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Acetylcysteine is a mucolytic agent that thins and loosens phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose, making it easier to cough out and facilitating breathing.

Uses

This medicine is primarily prescribed for the prevention and treatment of symptoms associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. It also provides relief for respiratory issues like bronchitis and asthma, helps in mucus clearance, and offers cough relief. VENTIDOX NAC TAB may also help in managing allergy symptoms such as congestion.

Dosage and Administration

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is typically taken once daily, preferably in the evening, or as directed by a doctor. It can be consumed with or without food, though taking it with food may help reduce stomach upset. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water and should not be crushed, broken, or chewed. It is crucial not to exceed the prescribed dose.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting
  • Runny nose, dizziness
  • Heartburn, stomach pain
  • Skin rash, drowsiness
  • Cool and moist skin

More serious, though rare, side effects can include severe skin reactions like Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis. Regular monitoring of potassium levels is recommended as it may cause low potassium levels in the blood.

What is VENTIDOX NAC TAB used for?

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is primarily used to prevent and treat symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes conditions like emphysema and chronic bronchitis. It helps alleviate symptoms such as shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing. The medicine also provides respiratory relief for issues like bronchitis and asthma, aids in mucus clearance, and offers cough relief.

How does VENTIDOX NAC TAB work?

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is a combination medication containing Acebrophylline and Acetylcysteine. Acebrophylline acts as a bronchodilator and mucolytic; it relaxes muscles and widens the airways in the lungs. Acetylcysteine is a mucolytic agent that thins and loosens phlegm (mucus) in the lungs, windpipe, and nose, making it easier to cough out. Together, these actions help to open airways and make breathing easier.

What is the usual dosage for VENTIDOX NAC TAB?

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is usually taken once daily, preferably in the evening, or as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, though taking it with food might help reduce stomach upset. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not crushed, broken, or chewed. Is VENTIDOX NAC TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

VENTIDOX NAC TAB is not recommended for use during pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor will determine if the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

VENTIDOX NAC TAB should be used with caution as it may interact with certain antibiotics like tetracycline, amoxicillin, amikacin, and gentamicin, potentially reducing their effectiveness. If these medicines must be taken together, a time gap of at least 2 hours between doses is recommended. N-acetylcysteine (a component of VENTIDOX NAC TAB) may also interact with anticoagulants (blood thinners), potentially increasing the risk of bruising and bleeding. It can also enhance the effects of nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure when taken with antihypertensive drugs.

What precautions should be taken?

Do not take VENTIDOX NAC TAB if you are allergic to acebrophylline, acetylcysteine, or any other components of the medicine.
