Frequently asked questions

RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE (MIXED BERRY FLAVOUR) SUSPENSION by SUN PHARMA LABORATORIES LTD.: Frequently Asked Questions

RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE (MIXED BERRY FLAVOUR) SUSPENSION is an antacid medication used to relieve symptoms of acidity, indigestion, and acid reflux. It contains a combination of Calcium Carbonate, Sodium Alginate, and Sodium Bicarbonate.

What is RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION used for?

RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION is primarily used to treat gastrointestinal symptoms such as acidity, heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It helps alleviate abdominal pain, stomach discomfort, bloating, and belching.

How does it work?

This suspension works by a triple action mechanism. Calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate act as antacids, neutralizing excess stomach acid to reduce irritation and discomfort. Sodium alginate, derived from brown seaweed, forms a viscous, gel-like barrier on top of the stomach contents. This protective layer prevents stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus, thereby reducing symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn.

What is the usual dosage?

The dosage and duration of RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION should strictly follow your doctor's instructions. It is typically administered orally. Always use a measuring device for accurate dosing and ensure thorough shaking before each use.

What are the possible side effects?

Common side effects of RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION can include flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. These side effects are generally minimal and may not occur in every patient. If side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

There is limited or absent safety data available regarding the use of RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is recommended to consult your doctor before taking this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Can it be taken with other medications?

While generally considered to have minimal drug interactions, it is advisable to inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, and herbs you are using to avoid potential interactions.

What precautions should be taken?

Do not take RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION if you have a known allergic reaction to any of its components. Caution is advised for individuals on a low-sodium diet, as this suspension is high in sodium, which is critical for those with congestive heart failure or renal impairment. It should also be avoided if you have too much calcium in your blood (hypercalcaemia), calcium buildup in the kidney (nephrocalcinosis), or recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones. Consult your doctor if you have pre-existing kidney or liver issues.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not double a dose to make up for the missed one.

How should it be stored?

RACIRAFT SUGAR FREE SUSPENSION should be stored in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight. It should not be stored in the freezer, refrigerator, or humid places, as high temperatures can alter the medication's components. Keep it out of sight and reach of children.
