  • Levosalbutamol (Levalbuterol): 1 mg (bronchodilator) These concentrations are typically per 5 ml of syrup.

Frequently asked questions

What is RAPITUS LS SYP used for?

RAPITUS LS SYP is primarily used to treat productive cough associated with mucus, chest congestion, and difficulty breathing. It is effective in conditions such as bronchitis, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and lung infections. It can also help alleviate allergy symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.

How does RAPITUS LS SYP work?

RAPITUS LS SYP is a combination of three active ingredients: Ambroxol, Guaiphenesin, and Levosalbutamol. Ambroxol acts as a mucolytic, thinning and loosening the mucus (phlegm) to make it easier to cough out. Guaiphenesin is an expectorant that reduces the stickiness of mucus, aiding its removal from the airways. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways, widening them to facilitate easier breathing.

What is the usual dosage for RAPITUS LS SYP?

The dosage of RAPITUS LS SYP should be taken exactly as advised by your doctor, as it depends on your age, body weight, and medical condition. It can be taken with or without food, but it is often recommended to take it at a fixed time. Always shake the bottle well before use and use a measuring cup or spoon for accurate dosing. For adults, a single maximum dose might be 5 ml, taken three times daily for up to 7 days, particularly for asthma. For children under 6 years, a typical dose can be 1.25 ml three times daily, depending on the specific syrup strength.

What are the possible side effects of RAPITUS LS SYP?

Common side effects include increased heart rate, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset or pain, diarrhea, sweating, tremors, palpitations (fluttering in chest), muscle cramps, skin rash, hives, and dry mouth or throat. If any side effects worsen or persist, it is important to consult your doctor. In rare cases, severe skin lesions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome or toxic epidermal necrolysis have been reported, which require immediate medical attention.

Is RAPITUS LS SYP safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

RAPITUS LS SYP should be used with extreme caution during pregnancy, and only if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks, as there are limited human studies and animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. It is not generally recommended for use in pregnant mothers. For breastfeeding mothers, information regarding its use is limited, so it should be used with caution and after consulting a doctor.

Can RAPITUS LS SYP be taken with other medications?

It is crucial to inform your doctor about all other medications you are currently taking, including prescription, non-prescription, and herbal medicines, as they may interact with RAPITUS LS SYP. Specific interactions can occur with beta-blockers, diuretics, cardiac glycosides (like digoxin), certain antidepressants (including tricyclic antidepressants and MAO inhibitors), and corticosteroids. This medicine should not be taken with cough suppressants.

What precautions should be taken while using RAPITUS LS SYP?

You should inform your doctor if you have any allergies or pre-existing conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, risk of heart attack), diabetes, hyperthyroidism, stomach ulcers, or seizures. This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you understand how it affects you. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can worsen drowsiness. Diabetics should monitor their blood glucose regularly. Drinking plenty of fluids is beneficial while taking this medication. Do not self-medicate. If your cough persists for more than a week, recurs, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache, stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.

What happens if a dose of RAPITUS LS SYP is missed?

If you miss a dose of RAPITUS LS SYP, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should RAPITUS LS SYP be stored?

RAPITUS LS SYP should be stored in a cool, dry place, typically below 25°C or 30°C, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
