- Mild aches associated with cold and flu.
Dosage and Administration: This medicine should be taken as directed by a doctor. Typically, the recommended dosage is one tablet twice daily, or as prescribed. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it after meals is often advised to reduce gastric irritation. The tablet should be swallowed whole with water; do not break, chew, or crush it. Precautions:
- Allergies: Avoid if allergic to aceclofenac, paracetamol, other NSAIDs, or any other ingredients.
- Pre-existing Conditions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of stomach ulcers, active recurrent stomach ulcer/bleeding, heart failure, high blood pressure, asthma, or kidney or liver disease.
- Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy; caution is advised during other trimesters and while breastfeeding.
- Alcohol: Avoid alcohol consumption as it increases the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding and liver damage.
- Other Medications: Do not take with other painkillers, especially those containing paracetamol or other NSAIDs, without consulting a doctor, due to increased risk of side effects. Interactions with anticoagulants, antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, and methotrexate may occur.

Frequently asked questions
SUMOACE TAB is a medication commonly used for pain relief, inflammation, and fever. It is manufactured by Alkem Lab-Pharma Division and contains a combination of Aceclofenac and Paracetamol.
What is SUMOACE TAB used for?
SUMOACE TAB is used for short-term relief from pain, inflammation, and fever. It helps alleviate various conditions such as headaches, mild migraines, muscle pain, dental pain, and pain associated with rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. It can also be used for postoperative pain management.
How does SUMOACE TAB work?
SUMOACE TAB contains two active ingredients: Aceclofenac and Paracetamol. Aceclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking the cyclooxygenase-2 enzyme, which is involved in producing chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause pain, inflammation, and fever. Paracetamol primarily acts on the central nervous system to increase the pain threshold and reduce fever by affecting the brain's heat-regulating center.
What is the usual dosage for SUMOACE TAB?
The dosage of SUMOACE TAB should always be as advised by your doctor. A common recommendation is one tablet twice daily. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with meals is often recommended to minimize gastric side effects. Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration of treatment.
What are the possible side effects of SUMOACE TAB?
Common side effects may include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, heartburn, indigestion, constipation, flatulence, diarrhea, rashes, and hives. Most of these side effects are temporary and resolve over time. However, if any side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Taking more than the prescribed dose can lead to liver damage or severe allergic reactions.
Is SUMOACE TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
SUMOACE TAB is not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, and should be avoided unless considered essential by your doctor. It is also generally not recommended for breastfeeding mothers as small amounts of the medication may pass into breast milk and could affect the baby. Always consult your doctor for alternative pain relief options if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can SUMOACE TAB be taken with other medications?
You should inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking to avoid potential drug interactions. SUMOACE TAB should be used with caution with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants (like warfarin), antihypertensives, diuretics, lithium, digoxin, and ACE inhibitors, as it can increase the risk of side effects or alter the effectiveness of these drugs. Do not take SUMOACE TAB with other medicines containing paracetamol without consulting your doctor to prevent the risk of liver damage.
What precautions should be taken while taking SUMOACE TAB?
Avoid SUMOACE TAB if you have a known allergy to its ingredients or other painkillers (NSAIDs). It should be used with caution or avoided in patients with a history of stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, asthma, heart failure, high blood pressure, or liver and kidney conditions. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can increase the risk of liver damage and gastrointestinal bleeding. Since it can cause dizziness and sleepiness, avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
What happens if a dose of SUMOACE TAB is missed?
If you miss a dose of SUMOACE TAB, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
How should SUMOACE TAB be stored?
SUMOACE TAB should be stored at room temperature (20-25°C) in a cool, dry place. Keep it away from direct sunlight and moisture. Always ensure it is kept out of the sight and reach of children.
