PANTAKIND RAFT Sugar Free Peppermint Flavour Oral Suspension

Pantakind Raft Sugar Free Peppermint Flavour Oral Suspension is a gastrointestinal medicine manufactured by Mankind Pharma Pvt Ltd.

  • Composition: Each 5ml of the suspension contains Calcium carbonate (80mg), Sodium alginate (250mg), and Sodium bicarbonate (133.5mg). These active ingredients work together to decrease stomach acid, form a protective gel barrier, and neutralize acidic pH in the stomach.

  • Uses: This medication is primarily used to treat conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), heartburn, acidity, indigestion, and general gastrointestinal distress. It helps relieve symptoms like abdominal pain, bloating, and belching.

  • Dosage and Administration: For adults, a typical recommendation is ¼ to 1 teaspoon dissolved in a glass of water, to be taken every 2 hours, or as prescribed by a doctor. It is generally advised to take it after meals. The bottle should be shaken well before use, and the dose measured with a measuring cup.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects may include flatulence, diarrhoea, nausea, and vomiting. Abdominal pain has also been reported. If side effects persist or worsen, medical consultation is advised.

  • Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have a history of allergic reactions to any of its components, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, oedema, hypercalcaemia (excess calcium in the blood), nephrocalcinosis, or kidney stones. A 2-hour interval should be maintained between taking Pantakind Raft Suspension and other medications, especially tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolones, and iron salts. Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can increase acid production. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use this medicine with proper consultation.

  • Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight, and out of the sight and reach of children.

Frequently asked questions

Pantakind Raft Suspension, manufactured by Mankind - Discovery Div, is a medication primarily used to provide relief from gastrointestinal issues.

What is Pantakind Raft Suspension used for?

Pantakind Raft Suspension is used to treat acidity, indigestion, heartburn, and gas-related issues such as bloating and belching. It also helps manage symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and general gastrointestinal distress.

How does Pantakind Raft Suspension work?

This medicine works by neutralizing stomach acid. Its key ingredients, Sodium alginate, Sodium bicarbonate, and Calcium carbonate, form a thick, gel-like layer that floats on top of the stomach contents. This barrier helps prevent stomach acid from flowing back into the esophagus (acid reflux). The Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate components also directly neutralize existing stomach acid.

What is the usual dosage for Pantakind Raft Suspension?

For adults, the generally recommended dose is ¼ to 1 teaspoon dissolved in a glass of water, to be taken every 2 hours. It is often recommended to take this medication after meals. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your doctor or on the product packaging.

What are the possible side effects of Pantakind Raft Suspension?

Common side effects can include flatulence (gas), diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. If these side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult a doctor.

Is Pantakind Raft Suspension safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pantakind Raft Suspension is generally considered safe for use during pregnancy, with studies indicating a low negligible risk to the developing baby. It is also generally considered safe during breastfeeding. However, it is always recommended to consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding before taking this medicine.

Can Pantakind Raft Suspension be taken with other medications?

A two-hour interval should be maintained between taking Pantakind Raft Suspension and other medicinal products. This is particularly important for medications such as tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, ketoconazole, neuroleptics, thyroid hormones, penicillamine, beta-blockers, glucocorticoids, chloroquine, biphosphonates, and estramustine.

What precautions should be taken while using Pantakind Raft Suspension?

Do not use this medicine if you have a known allergic reaction to any of its components. Individuals on a low-sodium diet or those with conditions such as high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, renal impairment, edema, hypercalcaemia (excess calcium in the blood), nephrocalcinosis (calcium buildup in the kidney), or recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones should use it with caution and inform their doctor. It is also advised to avoid alcohol and smoking while taking this medication. It is not generally recommended for children under 12 years of age without a doctor's consultation.
