FUSIGEN DP CREAM

FUSIGEN DP CREAM is a topical medication manufactured by GENO PHARMACEUTICALS PVT. LTD., designed to treat bacterial skin infections that are accompanied by inflammation.

  • Composition: Each gram of FUSIGEN DP CREAM contains Fusidic acid and Betamethasone dipropionate. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, effectively stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria. Betamethasone dipropionate is a potent corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, swelling, redness, and itching by suppressing the body's inflammatory response.

  • Uses: This cream is prescribed for various bacterial skin infections complicated by inflammation. These include impetigo, folliculitis, eczema (including infected eczema and atopic dermatitis), seborrheic dermatitis, boils, paronychia, allergic skin conditions, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, intertrigo, sunburn, insect bites and stings, jock itch, athlete's foot, and ringworm.

  • Dosage and Administration: For external use only. A thin layer of the cream should be applied to the affected area two to three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Ensure the affected skin is clean and dry before application, and gently rub the cream until absorbed. Wash hands thoroughly after application, unless the hands are the treated area. Avoid occlusive dressings unless specifically advised by a physician.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects may include mild burning, stinging, itching, dryness, skin irritation, and redness at the application site. Less common or serious side effects can include worsening of acne, skin thinning, small dilated blood vessels (telangiectasia), skin rash, contact dermatitis, hives, blisters, swelling around the eyes, adrenal suppression, increased pressure in the eyes (glaucoma), cataracts, changes in skin pigmentation, excessive hair growth, or blurred vision. Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing) require immediate medical attention.

  • Precautions:

    • Avoid prolonged use due to the potential for corticosteroid-related side effects.
    • Do not apply to open wounds, ulcers, viral or fungal infections, or areas with perioral dermatitis or rosacea.
    • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes. Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs.
    • Inform your doctor about any existing medical conditions, allergies, or other medications being taken, including topical products.
    • Use with caution in children, pregnant, and breastfeeding women only after consulting a doctor.
    • Not recommended for use on the face unless specifically directed by a doctor, as it may increase the risk of side effects like skin thinning.
  • Storage: Store FUSIGEN DP CREAM at room temperature, ideally below 25°C, away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use and out of the reach of children and pets.

Frequently asked questions

FUSIGEN DP CREAM is a topical medication containing a combination of fusidic acid and beclomethasone dipropionate, used to treat various bacterial skin infections accompanied by inflammation.

What is Fusigen DP Cream used for?

Fusigen DP Cream is used to treat bacterial skin infections where inflammation is also present. This includes conditions such as impetigo, folliculitis, boils, infected eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, and other inflamed bacterial dermatoses.

How does Fusigen DP Cream work?

The cream contains two active ingredients: Fusidic acid and Beclomethasone dipropionate. Fusidic acid is an antibiotic that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, thereby stopping the growth and spread of bacteria responsible for the infection. Beclomethasone dipropionate is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, swelling, and itching by suppressing the immune response in the skin.

What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?

Typically, a thin layer of Fusigen DP Cream should be applied to the affected area two to three times daily, or as directed by your doctor. It is important to clean and dry the affected area before application. Gently rub the cream into the skin until it is fully absorbed. Always wash your hands thoroughly before and after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated. The duration of treatment will depend on the severity of the infection and your response to the medication.

What are the possible side effects of Fusigen DP Cream?

Common side effects may include mild burning, stinging, itching, dryness, or redness at the application site. Less common or serious side effects can include worsening of acne, skin thinning, small dilated blood vessels (telangiectasia), changes in skin pigmentation, excessive hair growth, allergic reactions (such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing), or, with prolonged use, systemic effects like adrenal suppression, glaucoma, cataracts, or blurred vision if used near the eyes. Prolonged use should generally be avoided.

Is Fusigen DP Cream safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

For pregnancy, Fusigen DP Cream is generally advised to be avoided unless considered essential and prescribed by your doctor, as there is limited information on its safe use in humans and animal studies have shown potential harmful effects on the developing baby.

For breastfeeding, it is advised to use with caution and under medical supervision. If prescribed, the cream should not be applied to the breasts to prevent accidental intake by the infant.

Can Fusigen DP Cream be taken with other medications?

Since Fusigen DP Cream is applied externally, it is less likely to interact with systemic medications. However, you should inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, especially other topical products. Concomitant use with other topical corticosteroids should be avoided as it may increase the risk of side effects. Generally, there are no known significant drug-drug or drug-food interactions.

What precautions should be taken while using Fusigen DP Cream?

This cream is for external use only and should not be ingested. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, and other mucous membranes; if accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not apply the cream to open wounds, ulcers, or areas with viral (e.g., herpes, chickenpox) or fungal infections, tuberculosis-related skin conditions, perioral dermatitis, rosacea, or skin that has reacted poorly to vaccinations. Prolonged use, especially on the face or under airtight dressings, should be avoided due to the risk of corticosteroid-related side effects. Always complete the full course of treatment as prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence of infection and the development of antibiotic resistance. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve within a few days or weeks or if it worsens.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose, apply the cream as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should Fusigen DP Cream be stored?

Fusigen DP Cream should be stored below 25°C (room temperature) in a cool and dry place. Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use and ensure it is out of the reach of children and pets.
