Frequently asked questions
Here are frequently asked questions about KETOPLAST POUCHES by ZUVENTUS HEALTHCARE LTD.:
What is Ketoplast Pouch used for?
Ketoplast Pouch is a medicated transdermal patch primarily used for the short-term relief of musculoskeletal pain and inflammation. This includes conditions like pain following trauma (injuries), sprains, bruises, muscle pain, stiffness, joint pain, low back pain, tennis elbow, rheumatoid arthritis, and osteoarthritis.
How does Ketoplast Pouch work?
Ketoplast Pouch contains ketoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It works by blocking the action of cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes in the body, which are responsible for producing prostaglandins—chemical substances that cause pain, swelling, and inflammation. By delivering ketoprofen directly through the skin to the affected area, it provides targeted relief.
What is the usual dosage for Ketoplast Pouch?
For adults, typically one patch is applied per day, or as directed by a physician. The patch should be applied to a clean, dry, and non-hairy area of the skin. It should not be cut, and should be applied immediately after removal from its protective packaging. It is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
What are the possible side effects of Ketoplast Pouch?
Common side effects are generally localized skin reactions at the application site, such as redness, burning sensation, itching, rash, blistering, dryness, or inflammation. In rare cases, more severe allergic reactions like swelling of the face, hives, tightness in the chest, or wheezing may occur. If severe reactions occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention.
Is Ketoplast Pouch safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Ketoplast Pouch is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, as it may have harmful effects on the developing baby. During the first and second trimesters, if use is necessary, the dose and duration should be as low and short as possible. For breastfeeding, its safety has not been established, and it is generally not recommended. Always consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can Ketoplast Pouch be taken with other medications?
It is important to inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal remedies. Ketoplast Pouch may interact with certain medications such as methotrexate, anti-clotting agents, specific blood pressure or heart medications, anti-diabetic medications, lithium, and certain antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin, ofloxacin) or antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole). Avoid using it with other topical products like cosmetics, sunscreens, lotions, or moisturizers on the same area.
What precautions should be taken when using Ketoplast Pouch?
Do not apply the patch to open wounds, irritated skin, eczema, acne, dermatitis, inflammation, infection, or mucous membranes. Treated areas should not be exposed to direct sunlight or UV light (including solariums) during treatment and for at least two weeks after discontinuing use, due to the risk of photosensitivity. Always wash your hands thoroughly after applying the patch. Discontinue use immediately if any skin reaction occurs. Caution is advised for elderly patients and those with a history of asthma, chronic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, nasal polyposis, heart disease, stroke, or kidney/liver conditions.
What happens if a dose is missed?
Ketoplast Pouch is typically used as needed for pain relief. If a scheduled application is missed, apply it as soon as you remember. Do not apply more than one patch at a time or use it more frequently than recommended to compensate for a missed dose.
How should Ketoplast Pouch be stored?
Ketoplast Pouch should be stored in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture, and kept out of the reach of children. After removing a plaster, carefully re-seal the open side of the sachet to protect the remaining plasters. Do not use the medicine after its expiry date.
