Description

VOLITRA APS PAIN RELIEF SPRAY

Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray, manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Ltd., is a topical solution designed for rapid and sustained relief from pain and inflammation.

Composition The spray contains a combination of active ingredients:

  • Diclofenac (4% w/v or 4.64% w/w)
  • Alcohol (10% v/v)
  • Wintergreen Oil (Methyl Salicylate)
  • Menthol (in some variations like Volitra Plus Spray)
  • Linseed Oil (in some variations like Volitra Plus Spray)

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by blocking chemical messengers responsible for pain and swelling. Alcohol enhances the penetration of diclofenac into the skin, while other ingredients like methyl salicylate and menthol contribute to a cooling-warming sensation that distracts from pain and aids muscle relaxation.

Uses Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray is prescribed for the local symptomatic relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation associated with various musculoskeletal conditions, including:

  • Muscle pain, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain
  • Sprains, strains, and bruises
  • Arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis)

Frequently asked questions

Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray is a topical medication manufactured by SUN PHARMA LABORATORIES LTD., primarily used for relieving pain and inflammation in muscles and joints. It contains diclofenac, alcohol, and methyl salicylate (wintergreen oil) as active ingredients.

Here are some frequently asked questions about Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray:

What is Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray used for?

Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray is used for the local symptomatic relief of pain, swelling, and inflammation in muscles, ligaments, joints, and tendons. This includes conditions such as sprains, strains, bruises, fractures, sports injuries, osteoarthritis, back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, myositis, fibrositis, and sciatica.

How does Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray work?

This spray contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, chemical messengers in the body responsible for pain and inflammation. Alcohol in the spray acts as a solvent, enhancing the penetration of diclofenac into the skin and providing an immediate cooling sensation.

What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?

Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray should be applied topically to the affected area as directed by your doctor. Generally, it is recommended to apply 2-3 times a day for optimal relief, or up to 3-4 times a day. Shake the can well before use, hold it 5-10 cm away from the affected area, and spray evenly. Unless specifically instructed, avoid massaging or rubbing the area after application. Always wash your hands before and after using the spray, unless your hands are the area being treated.

What are the possible side effects of Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray?

Common side effects are typically local to the application site and may include itching, irritation, redness, burning sensation, skin rashes, and cracked or rough skin. These reactions usually subside over time. If used on large areas, for prolonged periods, or if accidentally ingested, more severe systemic side effects such as stomach pain, upset stomach, diarrhea, constipation, headache, and, rarely, liver or kidney issues can occur. If any severe skin reactions or persistent side effects occur, consult your doctor immediately.

Is Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: It is generally advised to avoid using Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, as it may pose a risk to the fetus. Your doctor may consider prescribing it during the first six months of pregnancy for a short duration and at a low dose only if absolutely necessary. Breastfeeding: Use this medicine under medical supervision while breastfeeding. It should not be applied to the breast area or on large areas of skin for prolonged periods. Consult your doctor for personalized advice.

Can Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray be taken with other medications?

Since Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray is applied externally, it is less likely to interact significantly with oral medications. However, you should avoid using other pain killers or medicines containing diclofenac, especially orally, as this might increase the risk of systemic side effects. It is always advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this spray with any other topical medications to prevent potential interactions.

What precautions should be taken while using Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray?

This spray is for external use only. Do not apply it on infected skin, cuts, open injuries, wounds, eyes, mouth, or mucous membranes. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application, unless your hands are the area being treated. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight on the treated area as it may make your skin sensitive. Do not cover the treated skin with tight bandages or apply external heat unless specifically advised by a doctor. Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray is not recommended for children below 14 years of age without a doctor's recommendation. Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss an application of Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not overapply the spray to compensate for a missed application.

How should Volitra APS Pain Relief Spray be stored?

Store this spray below 25°C or at room temperature (20-25°C). Keep it away from heat, direct sunlight, and out of the reach of children. Do not use the spray if the seal is broken or after its expiry date.
