    • Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6): 20 mg
    • Folic Acid (Vitamin B9): 5 mg
  • Uses Sinate-OD Tablet is used to alleviate nausea and vomiting in pregnant women whose symptoms persist despite other management strategies. Additionally, its components support healthy nerve, skin, and red blood cell function, and folic acid is crucial for healthy fetal development, reducing the risk of neural tube defects.

  • Dosage and Administration This medicine should be taken exactly as prescribed by a doctor, who will determine the dosage based on the patient's condition. It is typically administered once daily, often before bedtime to minimize daytime drowsiness. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not crushed or chewed. It can be taken with or without food.

    • Patients should avoid activities requiring complete mental alertness, such as driving or operating heavy machinery, until they know how the medicine affects them.
    • Use during breastfeeding is contraindicated due to the potential for sedation in the infant.

Frequently asked questions

Here are frequently asked questions about SINATE OD TAB:

What is SINATE OD TAB used for?

SINATE OD TAB is primarily used to manage nausea and vomiting during pregnancy, often referred to as morning sickness, especially when diet and other non-pharmacological methods have not been effective. It also provides essential nutritional support during pregnancy, including folic acid and vitamin B6.

How does SINATE OD TAB work?

SINATE OD TAB is a combination medication containing Doxylamine Succinate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), and Folic Acid. Doxylamine, an antihistamine, works by blocking histamine, which can cause allergy symptoms and helps reduce nausea and vomiting. Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) helps restore the body's vitamin B6 levels and acts as a coenzyme in the creation of neurotransmitters involved in regulating nausea and vomiting. Folic acid is crucial for DNA synthesis, red blood cell production, and healthy fetal neural development.

What is the usual dosage for SINATE OD TAB?

The dosage of SINATE OD TAB should be taken as directed by your doctor, who will determine it based on your health condition and response to the medicine. It is typically taken once daily, often before bedtime, to help minimize daytime drowsiness. It is usually recommended to take it on an empty stomach. Always adhere to the prescribed dosage and do not alter it without consulting your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of SINATE OD TAB?

Common side effects of SINATE OD TAB may include drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, dry mouth, and constipation. Other less common side effects can include a rash, disorientation, and restlessness. Most of these effects are usually mild and temporary. If you experience any persistent or severe side effects, consult your doctor.

Is SINATE OD TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

SINATE OD TAB is considered safe for use during pregnancy when prescribed by a doctor to manage nausea and vomiting. However, it is generally not recommended during breastfeeding because doxylamine can pass into breast milk and may cause sedation and irritability in nursing infants. Always consult your doctor before taking this medicine while breastfeeding.

Can SINATE OD TAB be taken with other medications?

SINATE OD TAB can interact with certain medications. It should not be taken with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as phenelzine, as this can increase and extend the impact of doxylamine. Taking it with other Central Nervous System (CNS) depressants like benzodiazepines, barbiturates, opioid pain killers, or sleeping pills can intensify drowsiness and increase the risk of accidents or falls. Pyridoxine in SINATE OD TAB can also reduce the effects of Levodopa, Phenobarb, and Phenytoin. Always inform your doctor about all other medications, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal preparations you are taking.

What precautions should be taken while taking SINATE OD TAB?

Do not take SINATE OD TAB if you are allergic to doxylamine succinate, other antihistamines, pyridoxine, folic acid, or any other ingredients in the formulation. Exercise caution if you have conditions such as asthma, glaucoma (increased eye pressure), stenosing peptic ulcer, intestinal blockages, bladder obstructions, or vitamin B12 deficiency. Since this medicine can cause drowsiness and dizziness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you. Alcohol consumption should also be avoided as it can worsen drowsiness.

What happens if a dose of SINATE OD TAB is missed?

If you miss a dose of SINATE OD TAB, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose, as this can increase the chances of experiencing unwanted side effects.

How should SINATE OD TAB be stored?

SINATE OD TAB should be stored at room temperature, specifically below 30°C. Keep the medicine in its original container, tightly closed, and protect it from light and moisture to maintain its effectiveness. Always keep SINATE OD TAB out of the sight and reach of children and pets.
