Description
COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET (10 TAB)
COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET is a medication manufactured by SERDIA PHARMACEUTICALS (INDIA) PVT. LTD.
Composition Each tablet contains Perindopril (8 mg) and Indapamide (2.5 mg). Perindopril is an Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that works by relaxing blood vessels, facilitating easier blood flow. Indapamide is a diuretic, commonly known as a "water pill," which helps the body eliminate excess water and sodium through increased urine output, further contributing to blood pressure reduction.
Uses COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET is primarily prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). This combination medicine is effective when a single medication is insufficient to control blood pressure. Its use helps to reduce the risk of future cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke. It also offers cardio and renal protection in patients with kidney disease.
Dosage and Administration The typical dosage is one tablet taken once daily, preferably in the morning before a meal. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water. It is crucial to take this medicine regularly at the same time each day to maintain its beneficial effects. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better, as this can worsen your condition. Dosage adjustments may be necessary for patients with kidney problems. This medicine is recommended for adults 18 years and above.
Side Effects Common side effects may include decreased blood pressure, dizziness, headache, a dry and persistent cough, weakness, nausea, altered taste, diarrhea, indigestion, stomach pain, vomiting, vertigo, ringing in the ear, and increased skin sensitivity to sunlight. More serious, though less common, side effects can include angioedema (severe swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), abnormal heart rhythms, electrolyte imbalances (low potassium or sodium), increased uric acid levels (potentially leading to gout), elevated blood glucose in diabetic patients, changes in liver enzymes, and kidney function impairment.
Precautions
- Allergy: Avoid if allergic to Perindopril, Indapamide, other ACE inhibitors, or any other components of the tablet.
- Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET is generally contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy due to risks to the fetus. It is also not recommended during breastfeeding.
- Kidney & Liver Impairment: Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver problems; dose adjustments and regular monitoring of kidney and liver function are often required. Severe impairment can be a contraindication.
- Dehydration & Electrolytes: The medication may alter fluid and electrolyte levels, leading to symptoms like dizziness or dry mouth. Adequate fluid intake is important.
- Alcohol & Driving: Alcohol consumption should be limited or avoided as it can enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect and cause excessive drowsiness. Due to potential dizziness or blurred vision, caution is advised when driving or operating machinery.
- Drug Interactions: Inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Specific interactions include Aliskiren, Sacubitril/Valsartan combinations, mTOR inhibitors, and gold salts.
- Surgery: Inform your healthcare provider if you are taking this medicine before any surgery or general anesthesia.
- Photosensitivity: Increased sensitivity to the sun may occur; use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.
Storage Store COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET at room temperature, between 15°C and 30°C. Keep it in its original packaging, protected from excessive heat and moisture, and out of the reach and sight of children. Do not store in the bathroom or near a sink, and avoid leaving it in a car or on a windowsill. Dispose of any expired or unused medicine safely.
Frequently asked questions
Here are the most frequently asked questions about COVERSYL PLUS HD TABLET:
What is COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet used for?
COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet is primarily used to treat hypertension, also known as high blood pressure. By effectively managing high blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of future cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes, and kidney problems.
How does COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet work?
COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet contains two active ingredients: Perindopril and Indapamide. Perindopril is an Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily and reducing the heart's workload. Indapamide is a diuretic (often called a "water pill") that helps the body get rid of excess salt and water through increased urine output. Both components work together to lower blood pressure.
What is the usual dosage for COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet?
The usual recommended dose for COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet is one tablet once daily. It is generally advised to take it in the morning before a meal. Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose based on your condition and response to the medicine.
What are the possible side effects of COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet?
Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, cough, fatigue, and decreased blood pressure. Other reported side effects include nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain, altered vision, taste changes, and skin rash. If you experience persistent or severe side effects like fainting, irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, kidney/liver problems, or severe allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat), seek immediate medical attention.
Is COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet is unsafe and contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy due to the definite risk of harm or death to the developing baby. It is generally not recommended during the first trimester either. It is also not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
Can COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet be taken with other medications?

It is crucial to inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Significant interactions can occur with other blood pressure medications (such as other ACE inhibitors, Angiotensin Receptor Blockers, or aliskiren), diuretics, potassium supplements, lithium, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), certain diabetes medications, mTOR inhibitors, and sacubitril/valsartan. Since the medication may cause dizziness or sleepiness, exercise caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you, and rise slowly from sitting or lying down positions. Do not stop taking the medicine abruptly without consulting your doctor, as this can worsen your condition. Also, limit exposure to the sun and use sunscreen, as it may increase skin sensitivity to UV rays. Inform your doctor if you are undergoing surgery or general anesthesia.
What happens if a dose of COVERSYL PLUS HD Tablet is missed?
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
