Name

  • Brand Name: LULICAN CREAM 1% W/W -30GM
  • Common Name: Lulican Cream

Composition

  • Active Ingredients: Luliconazole (1% w/w)

Uses Lulican Cream is a topical antifungal medication used to treat various fungal skin infections in adults. It is effective against dermatophyte infections such as:

  • Athlete's foot (Tinea pedis), which causes itchy, scaly, and white patches, particularly between the toes.
  • Jock itch (Tinea cruris), characterized by red and itchy rashes in warm, moist areas of the body.
  • Ringworm (Tinea corporis), presenting as red, itchy, circular rashes on the skin, scalp, or nails.
  • Other fungal or yeast infections of the skin, including thrush and dry, flaky skin. Lulican Cream works by destroying the cell membranes of the fungi, which are essential for their survival, thereby inhibiting their growth and clearing the infection.

Dosage and Administration Lulican Cream is for external application only.

  • Clean and dry the affected skin area thoroughly before application.
  • Apply a thin layer of the cream to the affected area and extend it to cover about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of the surrounding healthy skin.
  • Wash your hands properly after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated.
  • The typical dosage is once daily. The duration of treatment varies:
    • For athlete's foot (between the toes): once daily for 2 weeks.
    • For jock itch or ringworm: once daily for 1 week.
  • Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor, even if symptoms improve, to prevent recurrence of the infection.
  • Avoid contact with eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with water. Do not use on broken or inflamed skin.

Side Effects Common side effects at the application site may include:

  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Itching of skin
  • Redness of skin
  • Skin irritation

  • Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Severe dizziness or difficulty breathing If you experience any serious side effects, seek immediate medical attention.

  • If your symptoms do not improve within one to two weeks, consult your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

Lulican Cream 1% w/w - 30gm, manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Ltd., is an antifungal medication commonly used to treat various skin infections. It contains Luliconazole as its active ingredient.

What is Lulican Cream used for?

Lulican Cream is primarily used to treat fungal skin infections such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworm (tinea corporis). It can also be used for conditions like thrush and dry, flaky skin caused by fungal infections.

How does Lulican Cream work?

Lulican Cream contains Luliconazole, which is an antifungal agent. It works by killing the fungi responsible for the infection. It achieves this by disrupting the formation of the fungal cell membrane, which is essential for the fungi's survival and growth. This action ultimately destroys the fungal cells, clearing the infection and relieving symptoms.

What is the usual dosage for Lulican Cream?

The typical dosage involves applying a thin layer of Lulican Cream to the affected skin area once a day. For athlete's foot between the toes, it's usually applied once daily for two weeks, covering the affected skin and at least 1 inch of the surrounding skin. For jock itch or ringworm, it is generally applied once a day for one week. Always follow the specific instructions and duration advised by your doctor.

What are the possible side effects of Lulican Cream?

Common side effects at the application site include a burning sensation, irritation, itching, redness, and skin dryness. These reactions are generally mild and temporary. If these side effects persist or worsen, or if you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction such as a rash, swelling of the lips, throat, or face, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, seek immediate medical attention.

Is Lulican Cream safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Pregnancy: The safety of Lulican Cream during pregnancy has not been definitively established in humans, and it should generally be avoided. Animal studies have shown potential harmful effects at high doses. Your doctor will weigh the potential benefits against the risks to your unborn baby before prescribing it during pregnancy. Breastfeeding: Lulican Cream is considered to pose a low risk to a nursing infant due to its poor absorption after topical application and high plasma protein binding. However, it has not been extensively studied during breastfeeding. Avoid applying the cream to the nipple area, and ensure that the infant's skin does not come into direct contact with treated areas.

Can Lulican Cream be taken with other medications?

Since Lulican Cream is applied externally, it is unlikely to interact significantly with other medications taken orally or by injection. However, it is always advisable to inform your doctor about all other medicines, herbal preparations, and supplements you are currently taking, especially if you have recently used another steroid-containing medicine or had an allergic reaction to another antifungal medication.

What precautions should be taken while using Lulican Cream?

Lulican Cream is for external use only. Avoid contact with your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the area thoroughly with water. Always wash your hands before and after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated. Do not apply the cream to broken or inflamed skin. Complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor, even if your symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve after 2 to 4 weeks of treatment.

What happens if a dose of Lulican Cream is missed?

If you miss a dose of Lulican Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not apply a double dose to compensate for the missed one.

How should Lulican Cream be stored?

Store Lulican Cream in its original container, tightly closed, at room temperature (between 20°C to 25°C or below 30°C). Keep it away from light, excess heat, and moisture, and out of the reach of children and pets. Do not freeze the cream.
