SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP 10 ML by ALCON LABORATORIES (INDIA) PVT. LTD.
Name
- Common Name: Systane Complete Eye Drop
- Brand Name: SYSTANE® COMPLETE Lubricant Eye Drops
Composition
SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP contains Propylene Glycol 0.6% as its active lubricating ingredient. Inactive ingredients include boric acid, dimyristoyl phosphatidylglycerol, edetate disodium, hydroxypropyl guar, mineral oil, polyoxyl 40 stearate, POLYQUAD™ (polyquaternium-1) 0.001% preservative, sorbitan tristearate, sorbitol, and purified water. The formulation may also contain hydrochloric acid and/or sodium hydroxide to adjust pH.
Uses
SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP is an eye lubricant primarily used for the temporary relief of burning, irritation, and discomfort due to dryness of the eye. It acts as artificial tears to maintain essential lubrication, alleviate symptoms like pain and a gritty sensation, and provide protection against further irritation. This "all-in-one" formula is designed to relieve all types of dry eye, including aqueous deficient, evaporative, and mixed dry eye, by supporting all layers of the tear film. It helps combat dry eyes caused by environmental factors (wind, sun, dry air), prolonged screen time, computer use, reading, and certain medications. These drops can be used as needed throughout the day and are suitable for use before inserting and after removing contact lenses.
Dosage and Administration
Shake the bottle well before each use. Instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed throughout the day.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include temporary blurred vision, mild eye irritation, or a slight burning/stinging sensation upon application. If these symptoms persist or worsen, consult a healthcare professional. Serious, though rare, side effects include persistent eye discomfort, changes in vision, eye pain, excessive tearing, or continued redness or irritation of the eye. A very serious allergic reaction is rare but requires immediate medical attention if symptoms such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing occur.

Frequently asked questions
What is SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP used for?
SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP is used for the temporary relief of dry, irritated eyes. It helps alleviate burning, stinging, and discomfort caused by dryness, minor irritations, exposure to wind, or sun. It acts as an artificial tear to maintain necessary lubrication and protect the eye's surface.
How does SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP work?
SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP works by forming a protective layer over the eye's surface, hydrating it, and helping to prevent tear evaporation. Its unique formulation, including propylene glycol, hydroxypropyl guar, and mineral oil, is designed to replenish all layers of the tear film. Nano-sized lipid droplets contribute to stabilizing the lipid layer, providing moisture retention and comprehensive coverage.
What is the usual dosage for SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP?
The usual dosage is to instill 1 or 2 drops in the affected eye(s) as needed throughout the day. Shake the bottle well before use.
What are the possible side effects of SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP?
Common temporary side effects may include blurred vision, minor burning, stinging, or irritation upon application. If these effects persist or worsen, it's advisable to tell your doctor or pharmacist. Serious but rare side effects can include eye pain, changes in vision, continued eye redness or irritation. A severe allergic reaction is uncommon but symptoms like rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, or trouble breathing require immediate medical attention.
Is SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
While SYSTANE eye drops are generally considered safe for use during pregnancy, it is always recommended to consult your doctor or pharmacist before using any medication while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP be used with other eye medications?
If you are using other eye medications (such as drops or ointments), wait at least 5 minutes between applying each product. It is generally recommended to use eye drops before eye ointments to ensure proper absorption.
What precautions should be taken when using SYSTANE COMPLETE EYE DROP?
To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip of the container to any surface, and always replace the cap tightly after each use. Do not use the product if it changes color. If your eye condition worsens, you experience eye pain, changes in vision, or continued redness/irritation, or if symptoms persist for more than 72 hours, discontinue use and consult a doctor. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using most eye lubricants; check the product packaging or consult your doctor/pharmacist regarding specific types that can be used with lenses. Blurred vision may occur temporarily after application, so wait until your vision clears before driving or operating machinery.
