Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions about Omnigel Spray:
What is Omnigel Spray used for?
Omnigel Spray is primarily used to relieve mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and stiffness associated with various musculoskeletal and joint conditions. These include muscle aches, joint pain, back pain, neck pain, sprains, strains, and pain from osteoarthritis.
How does Omnigel Spray work?
Omnigel Spray contains a combination of active ingredients: Diclofenac, Linseed Oil, Methyl Salicylate, and Menthol. Diclofenac and Methyl Salicylate are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) that work by reducing the production of hormones in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Linseed oil also helps reduce inflammation. Menthol provides a soothing and cooling sensation by dilating blood vessels and enhances the penetration of the other active ingredients, contributing to faster relief.
What is the usual dosage for Omnigel Spray?
For external use only, shake the bottle well before use. Spray the contents from a distance of about 5 cm onto the affected area. It can generally be used 3 to 4 times a day, or as directed by a healthcare professional. You do not need to massage or rub the area after spraying.
What are the possible side effects of Omnigel Spray?
Common side effects are usually mild and may include itching, irritation, redness, and a burning sensation at the application site. These typically subside on their own. If these side effects persist or worsen, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Is Omnigel Spray safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Omnigel Spray should be used with caution during the first six months of pregnancy and is generally not recommended during the last three months, as it may harm the unborn child or cause delivery complications. For breastfeeding mothers, it is advisable to consult a doctor, as topical application to the nipple may increase the risk of diarrhea in the infant.
Can Omnigel Spray be taken with other medications?
While Omnigel Spray is a topical medication and systemic absorption is generally low, it's always best to inform your doctor about all medications you are using to avoid potential interactions. Caution is advised if you are also using other NSAIDs, blood thinners (like warfarin), corticosteroids, or certain antidepressants (SSRIs/SNRIs), as Diclofenac can increase the risk of side effects.
What precautions should be taken when using Omnigel Spray?
Avoid applying Omnigel Spray to open wounds, broken, or irritated skin. Do not let it come into contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth; if accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with water. Do not apply external heat or cover the treated area with bandages or dressings unless advised by a doctor. It is not recommended for children under 14 years of age. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the spray increases the risk of severe burns. Also, protect treated areas from strong sunlight as it may increase skin sensitivity.
What happens if a dose of Omnigel Spray is missed?
Since Omnigel Spray is typically used as needed for pain relief, missing a dose is not usually a concern. Simply apply it when you feel pain. Do not apply more than the recommended amount to compensate for a missed application.
How should Omnigel Spray be stored?
Store Omnigel Spray in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture, at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children. Do not pierce or burn the container, and avoid spraying on a naked flame or incandescent material.
