Description
IFLOMAX Ophthalmic Gel
Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel, manufactured by Ajanta Pharma Limited, is an ophthalmic lubricant designed to provide relief from dry eye symptoms.
- Name: Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel
- Composition: Each gram of Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel contains Carbomer (3.5 mg) and Vitamin A (equivalent to 1000 IU of Vitamin A Palmitate).
- Uses: This combination medicine is primarily used to treat dry eyes. It helps relieve the burning sensation, irritation, and discomfort associated with eye dryness, or irritation caused by wind and sun. Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel works by relaxing, lubricating, and protecting the eye's surface, mimicking natural tears, and supporting the regeneration and maintenance of the conjunctival and corneal epithelium.
- Dosage and Administration: Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel is for external ophthalmic use only and should be used as advised by a doctor. Typically, it is applied 2-3 times a day. Before application, wash your hands thoroughly. Tilt your head back, gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket, and squeeze a small amount of gel into the eye. Avoid touching the tip of the container to the eye, fingers, or any other surface to prevent contamination. If using other eye medications, apply them first and wait at least 10 minutes before using Iflomax Gel. Remove contact lenses before application and wait for at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
- Side Effects: Common and usually temporary side effects may include impaired or blurred vision immediately after application, eye pain, eyelid crusting, and eye irritation or a burning sensation. These effects typically resolve on their own. However, if symptoms persist, worsen, or if you experience signs of an allergic reaction such as redness, swelling, or itching, consult your doctor.
- Precautions:
- Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience temporary blurred vision after using the gel until your vision is clear.
- Do not use Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel if you have known allergies or hypersensitivity to any of its components.
- Consult a doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Inform your doctor if you have conditions such as closed-angle glaucoma, high blood pressure, eye injury or infection, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, or kidney or liver illness before use.
- Replace the cap tightly after each use to prevent contamination.
- For external use only; do not consume orally.
- Use the gel within one month after opening the tube.
- Storage: Store Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children. The recommended storage temperature is below 30°C (or between 10°C to 25°C). Do not freeze.
Frequently asked questions
IFLOMAX GEL, manufactured by Ajanta Pharma Limited, is an ophthalmic gel primarily used to manage conditions related to eye health and vitamin A deficiency. It contains Vitamin A and Carbomer.
Here are some frequently asked questions about IFLOMAX GEL:
What is IFLOMAX GEL used for?
IFLOMAX GEL is primarily used to treat various eye-related conditions such as dry eyes, soreness, and irritation. It can also support the health of the ocular surface, particularly the conjunctival epithelium. Additionally, due to its Vitamin A content, it may be beneficial for dry skin, acne, or minor skin irritations, and promotes overall skin health and vision.
How does IFLOMAX GEL work?
IFLOMAX GEL contains Vitamin A and Carbomer. Vitamin A is crucial for proper vision, immune function, and skin health, promoting cell regeneration and repair. Carbomer acts as a viscosity enhancer in the gel, providing lubrication and helping the gel remain on the eye surface, offering long-lasting moisture and a protective shield over the cornea.
What is the usual dosage?
Apply a thin layer of IFLOMAX GEL to the affected skin area or to the eyes as directed by your healthcare provider. The frequency of application is typically once or twice daily. It should be used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor.
What are the possible side effects?
Common side effects may include skin irritation, hypersensitivity reactions, redness, or a stinging sensation at the application site. For ophthalmic use, some may experience impaired/blurred vision, eye pain, eyelid crusting, and eye irritation. Most of these symptoms are temporary. If any severe side effects or worsening symptoms occur, consult your doctor.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
It is advisable to consult your doctor before using IFLOMAX GEL during pregnancy or breastfeeding. While some sources suggest it may be safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding, with the drug not passing into breast milk in significant amounts, it's always best to seek medical advice to ensure safety.
Can it be taken with other medications?
There are no known interactions with alcohol. Iflomax Ophthalmic Gel contains vitamin A, and some other medicines can decrease its absorption. Therefore, it is important to inform your doctor about all other medicines, supplements, or other topical products you are using to ensure safety and avoid potential interactions.
What precautions should be taken?
IFLOMAX GEL is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes when applied to the skin. When used as an ophthalmic gel, wash your hands thoroughly before and after application. Do not apply to open cuts, wounds, or injured skin. If you experience irritation or visual disturbances (when used ophthalmically), stop use immediately and consult your doctor. It is not generally recommended for children without medical advice.
What happens if a dose is missed?
If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time for your next scheduled application, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
How should it be stored?
IFLOMAX GEL should be kept in a cool, moisture-free, and dark place, away from direct sunlight. Ensure it is stored out of the reach of children and pets.
