Description

ARRENO CAPSULE (10 CAP) by INTAS PHARMACEUTICALS LTD.

ARRENO CAPSULE ER is an antiplatelet agent manufactured by Intas Pharmaceuticals Ltd., primarily used to help prevent blood clot formation.

  • Composition: Each extended-release capsule contains Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) 25 mg and Dipyridamole 200 mg.

  • Uses: ARRENO CAPSULE ER is prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke in patients who have experienced a previous stroke or a mini-stroke (transient ischemic attack or TIA) due to a blood clot. It works by inhibiting platelets from sticking together, thereby preventing the formation of harmful blood clots and maintaining normal blood flow to the brain.

  • Dosage and Administration: This medicine is typically taken twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, exactly as prescribed by a doctor. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, with or without food, and should not be crushed, chewed, or broken. The dose and duration of treatment depend on the patient's condition and doctor's advice.

  • Side Effects:

    • Common: Headache, dizziness, heartburn, nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, stomach pain, and vomiting. These usually do not require medical attention but inform your doctor if they persist or worsen.
    • Serious: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of severe bleeding (unusual bruising, uncontrolled bleeding from gums or nose, blood in vomit or stools that are black and tarry), severe headache with confusion or vision changes (intracranial hemorrhage), chest pain, difficulty breathing, or indications of severe kidney or liver damage.
  • Precautions:

    • ARRENO CAPSULE ER is not recommended if you are allergic to aspirin, dipyridamole, or NSAIDs.
    • It should be avoided in patients with asthma, rhinitis (stuffy nose), nasal polyps, active bleeding conditions (like stomach ulcers), severe renal failure, or severe hepatic failure.
    • This medicine increases the risk of bleeding; exercise caution during activities that may cause injury, and inform your doctor before any surgery or dental procedures.
    • Avoid alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of stomach bleeding.
    • Use with caution in patients with stomach problems, bleeding disorders, heart issues, low blood pressure, myasthenia gravis, kidney disease, or liver disease.
    • Not recommended during the last trimester of pregnancy, and generally considered unsafe during breastfeeding.
    • May cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
    • The use of aspirin in children below 16 years with viral infections may lead to Reye's syndrome.
    • Avoid concomitant use of NSAIDs like paracetamol or ibuprofen, as this may increase bleeding risk.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of the sight and reach of children. Store below 30°C or 25°C.

Frequently asked questions

ARRENO CAPSULE (10 CAP) by INTAS PHARMACEUTICALS LTD. is a medication containing Aspirin (25mg) and Dipyridamole (200mg), primarily used to prevent stroke. It works as an antiplatelet agent to reduce the risk of blood clot formation.

What is ARRENO CAPSULE used for?

ARRENO CAPSULE is prescribed to reduce the risk of stroke in patients who have a history of blood clots or have experienced a mini-stroke (transient ischemic attack or TIA). It helps prevent blood from clotting inside the veins and arteries, thereby maintaining normal blood flow to the brain.

How does ARRENO CAPSULE work?

This medicine is a combination of two active ingredients: Aspirin and Dipyridamole. Aspirin acts as a blood thinner, interfering with platelet function to prevent them from sticking together. Dipyridamole is an anticoagulant that also inhibits platelets from clumping and works to widen blood vessels, improving blood flow. Together, they effectively reduce the formation of harmful blood clots, lowering the risk of stroke.

What is the usual dosage for ARRENO CAPSULE?

ARRENO CAPSULE should be taken exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is typically advised to take this medicine twice daily. The capsule should be swallowed whole with a glass of water and not crushed, chewed, or broken. It can be taken with or without food, though some recommendations suggest taking it with food to avoid stomach upset.

What are the possible side effects of ARRENO CAPSULE?

Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, heartburn, nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, and stomach pain. These usually do not require medical attention, but if they persist or worsen, you should inform your doctor. More serious side effects to watch out for include increased bleeding (e.g., unusual bruising, blood in vomit, urine, or stools), severe headache, vision changes, chest pain, or difficulty breathing, which warrant immediate medical attention.

Is ARRENO CAPSULE safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

ARRENO CAPSULE is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the last trimester, as it may cause harmful effects to the unborn baby. In life-threatening situations, a doctor might rarely prescribe it if the benefits outweigh the potential risks. It is also not recommended for breastfeeding mothers, as limited human data suggests the drug may pass into breast milk and harm the nursing baby. Always consult your doctor for advice if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Can ARRENO CAPSULE be taken with other medications?

Concurrent use of ARRENO CAPSULE with other blood thinners (e.g., warfarin, dabigatran, clopidogrel) or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen or paracetamol is generally not recommended due to an increased risk of bleeding. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including those for high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, glaucoma, seizures, Alzheimer's disease, methotrexate, diabetes, gout, or corticosteroids, as they may interact with ARRENO CAPSULE.

What precautions should be taken while using ARRENO CAPSULE?

ARRENO CAPSULE increases the risk of bleeding, so exercise caution when shaving, cutting nails, or engaging in contact sports. Inform your doctor or dentist about taking this medicine before any surgical or dental procedures. It should be avoided if you are allergic to aspirin, dipyridamole, or NSAIDs, or if you have asthma, rhinitis, or nasal polyps. It is not for use in children under 16 with viral infections due to the risk of Reye's syndrome. Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney diseases, and avoid alcohol consumption as it can increase the risk of stomach bleeding. This medication may cause dizziness, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery if you are not fully alert. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this can increase the risk of another stroke.

What happens if a dose of ARRENO CAPSULE is missed?

If you miss a dose of ARRENO CAPSULE, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

How should ARRENO CAPSULE be stored?

ARRENO CAPSULE should be stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and moisture. It is important to keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
