- Common Name: Cabergoline 0.25 mg Tablet
Composition Each uncoated tablet contains Cabergoline I.P. 0.25 mg.
Uses CB-Lin 0.25 mg Tablet is primarily used to treat hyperprolactinemia, a condition characterized by high levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. Prolactin is responsible for breast development and milk production. By reducing prolactin levels, this medicine helps to:
- Stop or suppress breast milk production after childbirth, stillbirth, abortion, or miscarriage, or if breastfeeding is not desired.
- Restore normal menstrual cycles, promote ovulation, and improve fertility in women with irregular periods caused by high prolactin levels.
- Manage galactorrhea (secretion of breast milk without pregnancy or breastfeeding) and idiopathic hyperprolactinemia (elevated prolactin levels with no known cause).
- Address high prolactin levels due to pituitary gland tumors in both men and women, and can also alleviate decreased libido and erectile dysfunction in men caused by elevated prolactin.
- A higher dose of cabergoline (1mg) is also used as a second-line treatment for Parkinson's disease.
Dosage and Administration CB-Lin 0.25 mg Tablet should be taken as advised by your physician. It is typically taken orally, usually once or twice weekly. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and not crushed or chewed. It can be taken with or after food to help reduce feelings of nausea or vomiting. Your doctor will determine the correct dose and duration based on your age, body weight, and medical condition. Do not stop taking the medicine unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Frequently asked questions
CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET (Cabergoline) - Frequently Asked Questions
CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET, containing cabergoline, is a medication primarily used to manage conditions related to high levels of prolactin, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It works by mimicking the action of dopamine in the brain, which helps to reduce prolactin secretion.
What is CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET used for?
CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET is primarily used to treat hyperprolactinemia, a condition characterized by abnormally high levels of the hormone prolactin in the body. This can lead to various issues such as irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and abnormal breast milk secretion (galactorrhea) in women, and breast enlargement and sexual dysfunction in men. It is also used to stop or suppress breast milk production after stillbirth, abortion, miscarriage, or if breastfeeding is not desired after delivery. In some cases, higher doses of cabergoline may be used as a second-line treatment for Parkinson's disease.
How does CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET work?
CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET contains cabergoline, which is a dopamine agonist. It works by stimulating D2 receptors on the lactotroph cells in the anterior pituitary gland, which are responsible for producing prolactin. By doing so, it effectively inhibits the synthesis and secretion of prolactin, leading to a decrease in prolactin levels in the body.
What is the usual dosage of CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET?
The recommended starting dosage for CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET is typically 0.25 mg taken twice per week. Your doctor may gradually increase the dosage by 0.25 mg at intervals of no less than 4 weeks, depending on your prolactin levels and response to treatment. The maximum recommended dosage is usually 1 mg twice weekly. It can be taken with or without food, but taking it with or after food may help reduce nausea.
What are the possible side effects?
Common side effects of CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET can include drowsiness, nausea, headache, dizziness, vertigo, stomach pain, indigestion, constipation, fatigue, weakness, and hot flashes. Other possible side effects include blurred vision, breast pain, depression, and low blood pressure (especially upon standing).
Serious but rare side effects can include abnormal thoughts, heart valve and related disorders (like inflammation of the heart or fluid leakage in the pericardium), which may present as difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, pounding heart, chest pain, or swollen legs. It's important to consult your doctor if any side effects worsen or if you experience any serious or unusual symptoms.
Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
CB LIN 0.25 MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women, and you should take precautions to avoid pregnancy for at least one month after stopping the medication. If you become pregnant during treatment, stop the medicine and contact your doctor, who will monitor your pregnancy due to the potential for congenital abnormalities.
It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it can stop or suppress milk production.
Can it be taken with other medications?
