Frequently asked questions
CWIN CREAM 30 GM is an antifungal medication manufactured by Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., primarily used for treating fungal infections of the skin and nails. It contains Ciclopirox as its active ingredient.
What is CWIN CREAM used for?
CWIN CREAM is used for the topical treatment of various fungal and yeast infections. This includes common conditions such as athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis), candidiasis (moniliasis), and tinea (pityriasis) versicolor. It is also effective in treating fungal nail infections.
How does CWIN CREAM work?
CWIN CREAM contains Ciclopirox, a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. It works by stopping the growth of fungi and reducing the infection. Ciclopirox achieves this by disrupting the membranes of fungal cells, interfering with protein transport, and inhibiting protein production, which ultimately prevents the fungi from multiplying and colonizing further, thus clearing the infection and relieving symptoms like itching and scaling.
What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?
CWIN CREAM is for external use only. It should be applied to the affected and surrounding skin areas, typically twice daily (morning and evening), or as prescribed by your doctor. Before application, the affected area should be thoroughly washed and dried. A thin layer of the cream should be gently rubbed onto the skin until it is evenly distributed. It's important to wash your hands before and after applying the cream, unless your hands are the area being treated. The duration of treatment depends on the specific condition but consistency is key for optimal results. For fungal skin infections, clinical improvement often occurs within the first week, but the medication should be used for the full prescribed duration to prevent recurrence.
What are the possible side effects of CWIN CREAM?
Common side effects of CWIN CREAM include itching, burning, stinging sensations, irritation, or redness at the application site. These effects are usually mild and temporary, often subsiding as your body adjusts to the medication. Rarely, severe itching, dryness, blistering, swelling, or changes in nail color may occur. If side effects persist, worsen, or cause concern, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
Is CWIN CREAM safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Pregnancy: CWIN CREAM should be used during pregnancy only if clearly necessary and after consulting a doctor. While some animal studies show low or no adverse effects, human studies are limited. Breastfeeding: CWIN CREAM should be used with caution by breastfeeding women. It is not known whether this medicine is passed into breast milk. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. If prescribed, avoid applying the cream around the breast area. Always consult a healthcare professional before starting treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Can CWIN CREAM be taken with other medications?
As CWIN CREAM is applied externally, major interactions with other systemic medications are generally not found. However, it is always recommended to inform your doctor about all current medicines you are taking to prevent any potential interactions.
What precautions should be taken while using CWIN CREAM?
- CWIN CREAM is for external use only. Avoid contact with the mouth, eyes, nose, open wounds, or broken skin. In case of accidental contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and seek medical help if irritation persists.
- Do not apply more often or use longer than directed to avoid increased risk of side effects.
- Avoid wrapping or covering the treated area with bandages or other coverings unless specifically advised by your doctor.
- Inform your doctor if you have known allergies to ciclopirox or any other ingredients in the cream.
- It is not recommended for children under 10 years of age.
- Avoid using nail varnishes and artificial nails during treatment for fungal nail infections, and do not share nail filers to prevent spreading the infection.
What happens if a dose is missed?
If you miss an application of CWIN CREAM, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed application and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
How should CWIN CREAM be stored?
CWIN CREAM should be stored below 25°C or 30°C, in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep it out of the sight and reach of children and pets. Do not use the medicine after the expiry date or if you notice any visible signs of deterioration.
