Frequently asked questions

Here are some frequently asked questions about Lulifin Cream 20 GM:

What is Lulifin Cream used for?

Lulifin Cream is an antifungal medicine used to treat various fungal infections of the skin. These include conditions like athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), ringworm (tinea corporis), thrush, and dry, flaky skin caused by fungal infections. It helps to relieve symptoms such as itching, redness, scaling, and irritation associated with these infections.

How does Lulifin Cream work?

Lulifin Cream contains luliconazole, which is a topical antifungal agent. It works by killing the fungi that cause infections by damaging their cell membranes. Specifically, it interferes with an enzyme called lanosterol demethylase, disrupting the production of ergosterol, a crucial component for the fungal cell membrane. This action effectively stops the growth of the fungus and clears the infection.

What is the usual dosage for Lulifin Cream?

Lulifin Cream is for external use only and should be applied as directed by your doctor. Generally, a thin layer of the cream is applied to the affected skin area once a day. For athlete's foot, it might be used once daily for 2 weeks, while for jock itch or ringworm, it may be prescribed once daily for 1 week. It's important not to use it more often or in higher quantities than prescribed, as this will not clear the condition faster and may increase side effects. Treatment should be continued for the entire duration prescribed, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning.

What are the possible side effects of Lulifin Cream?

The most common side effects are usually mild and occur at the application site. These can include a burning sensation, irritation, itching, redness, and skin dryness. Less common side effects may include skin peeling or blistering. If these side effects persist, worsen, or if you experience signs of an allergic reaction such as a rash, swelling of the lips, throat, or face, or difficulty swallowing or breathing, seek immediate medical attention.

Is Lulifin Cream safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Lulifin Cream should be used with caution during pregnancy, and it is generally not recommended unless clearly necessary. It's important to consult your doctor to weigh the potential benefits against any possible risks. For breastfeeding mothers, caution is also advised. While absorbed quantities via the skin are usually very low, the cream should not be applied to the breast, nipple, or any area that may come into direct contact with the infant during feeding.

Can Lulifin Cream be taken with other medications?

Since Lulifin Cream is applied externally, it is less likely to interact significantly with other oral or injectable medicines. However, if you are using other topical medications on the same area, or have recently used a steroid-containing medication, or have had allergic reactions to other antifungal drugs, it is advisable to consult your doctor before using Lulifin Cream. Long-term use of Lulifin Cream in large amounts might interact with medicines like omeprazole.

What precautions should be taken while using Lulifin Cream?

Always clean and dry the affected skin area before applying the cream. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after application, unless your hands are the area being treated. Avoid applying the cream to your eyes, mouth, nose, or vaginal region. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if irritation persists. Do not cover, wrap, or bandage the treated skin area unless specifically instructed by your doctor. Maintaining good personal hygiene, keeping the affected area clean and dry, and changing socks/shoes daily (for athlete's foot) can help increase the medicine's effectiveness.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you forget to apply Lulifin Cream at the scheduled time, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular application schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one, as this will not improve the condition faster and may increase the risk of side effects.

How should Lulifin Cream be stored?

Lulifin Cream should be stored in its original container, tightly closed, in a cool, dry place. The temperature should generally be between 20°C and 25°C, or below 30°C. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or extreme heat. Keep this medicine out of the reach of children and pets. Once opened, it should ideally be used within one month. Discard any unused medicine properly, as instructed.
