THERMOKIND F GEL 100 G

Name: Thermokind F Gel (Brand Name: THERMOKIND F GEL by MANKIND PHARMA LTD.)

Composition:

  • Potassium Nitrate 5% w/w
  • Sodium Monofluorophosphate 0.7% w/w
  • Triclosan 0.3% w/w (Available fluoride content 917 ppm when packed)

Uses: Thermokind F Gel is a medicated dental gel primarily used for:

  • Reducing tooth sensitivity (dentinal hypersensitivity) to hot, cold, sweet, or acidic foods and drinks. Potassium Nitrate calms the nerves, reducing sensitivity.
  • Preventing and managing dental caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Sodium Monofluorophosphate strengthens tooth enamel and helps against decay.
  • Fighting plaque and bacteria. Triclosan acts as an antimicrobial agent to reduce bacterial growth and plaque formation, promoting gum health.
  • Maintaining overall oral hygiene.

Dosage and Administration:

  • Use as advised by your dentist or physician.
  • For dental use only.
  • Apply a pea-sized amount of the gel onto your toothbrush and brush teeth generously, or apply directly to the affected areas using a clean finger or cotton swab.
  • Swish and spit it out; do not swallow.
  • It is typically recommended for use twice a day, in the morning and after dinner.
  • Avoid eating or drinking for at least 15-30 minutes after application to allow the ingredients to work effectively.

Side Effects: Thermokind F Gel is not widely reported to cause adverse side effects when used as directed. However, if you experience any unusual reaction, it is recommended to contact your dentist. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema, oral, and facial swelling have been reported with potassium nitrate-containing toothpastes, especially in predisposed individuals.

Precautions:

  • Always use Thermokind F Gel as advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Do not swallow the gel.
  • Use with caution in children to avoid accidental swallowing.
  • Inform your dentist about any allergies or other medications, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements.

Storage:

  • Store at room temperature below 30°C.

Frequently asked questions

What is Thermokind F Gel used for?

Thermokind F Gel is primarily used to reduce tooth sensitivity, manage dental cavities, and maintain overall oral hygiene. It also helps strengthen tooth enamel, protect against tooth decay, and fight plaque and bacteria.

How does Thermokind F Gel work?

The gel works through its active ingredients: Potassium Nitrate, Sodium Monofluorophosphate, and Triclosan. Potassium Nitrate desensitizes nerves to reduce pain signals from hot, cold, sweet, or acidic stimuli. Sodium Monofluorophosphate strengthens tooth enamel and aids in remineralization, protecting against demineralization and cavities. Triclosan acts as an antibacterial agent to reduce plaque formation and gum inflammation.

What is the usual dosage and how should it be applied?

Apply a pea-sized amount of Thermokind F Gel to a soft-bristled toothbrush. Brush twice daily for at least two minutes, typically in the morning and after dinner. After brushing, spit out the gel but do not rinse immediately for better effectiveness.

What are the possible side effects?

Thermokind F Gel is generally reported to cause no adverse side effects. However, very rarely, some individuals might experience hypersensitivity reactions such as angioedema or oral and facial swelling, especially if predisposed to such reactions or allergic to any ingredients. If you experience any unusual reactions, it is recommended to contact your dentist.

Is it safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

It is advisable to seek precautions and consult a healthcare professional or dentist regarding the use of Thermokind F Gel during pregnancy and lactation.

Can it be taken with other medications?

No specific drug interactions have been reported for Thermokind F Gel. However, it is always recommended to inform your dentist about all the medicines you are currently using, including prescription, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements.

What precautions should be taken?

Thermokind F Gel is for dental use only and should not be swallowed. Keep it out of reach of children. Avoid use if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a dentist.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If you miss a dose, simply resume your regular brushing schedule with Thermokind F Gel at the next scheduled time. Do not apply extra gel to make up for a missed dose.

How should it be stored?

Store Thermokind F Gel in a cool, dry place at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Protect it from direct sunlight and light, and do not freeze it.
