IPSOZEX TAB

Name: IPSOZEX TAB (commonly referred to as Isozex 5mg/1mg Tablet)

Composition: Each tablet contains Isopropamide (5mg) and Trifluoperazine (1mg). Isopropamide acts as an anticholinergic, relaxing smooth muscles in the digestive tract and reducing spasms by blocking acetylcholine receptors. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic that works by blocking the action of dopamine in the brain, which can affect mood and thoughts.

Uses: IPSOZEX TAB is primarily prescribed for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a condition characterized by abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation. It is also used to treat peptic ulcers and indigestion by relaxing gastrointestinal muscles and reducing intestinal spasms. This medication helps alleviate stomach pain and cramps and promotes easier gas passage to reduce discomfort.

Dosage and Administration: This medicine should be taken as advised by a doctor, with or without food. The tablet should be swallowed whole and not chewed, crushed, or broken. It is often recommended to take it at a fixed time. The dosage and duration depend on the patient's condition and response to the medicine. Stopping treatment too early may lead to the return or worsening of symptoms. Typically, it might be advised twice daily.

Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, dry mouth, constipation, sleepiness, weight gain, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure upon standing), and blurred vision. Most of these are usually temporary and resolve over time. Serious side effects, though less common, warrant immediate medical attention if they persist or worsen.

Precautions:

  • Avoid taking IPSOZEX TAB if you have allergies to its ingredients, kidney or liver disease, glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, Parkinson's disease, severe CNS depression, or blood disorders.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, a history of blood clotting disorders, muscle weakness, or fits disorder.
  • Not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should inform their doctor, as the medication may have harmful effects on the unborn baby and can pass into breast milk.
  • Alcohol consumption should be avoided as it can worsen drowsiness and sleepiness.
  • Due to potential dizziness and drowsiness, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you understand how the medicine affects you.
  • Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position to prevent dizziness from orthostatic hypotension.

Storage: Store below 30°C. Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

How does IPSOZEX TAB work?

IPSOZEX TAB is a combination of two medicines: Isopropamide and Trifluoperazine. Most of these side effects are temporary and usually resolve over time. If they persist or worsen, it is important to consult your doctor.

Is IPSOZEX TAB safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

IPSOZEX TAB may be unsafe to use during pregnancy, as animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby, and there is limited human data. It is generally not recommended during breastfeeding, as the drug may pass into breast milk and could potentially harm the newborn baby. It is crucial to consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding before starting this medication.
